Job Title : Development Technologist Job purpose: Support the NPD function in the development and improvement of new and existing products Reporting to: NPD Manager Key Responsibilities: -Support the Development Chefs in the creation of new products alongside existing product development.
-Liaise with customers in response to given briefs to ensure requirements are captured and feedback to the development chefs.
-Be responsible for the creation and despatch of samples to the customer.
-Assist in sourcing of new raw materials for development samples and working alongside the Technical and Procurement teams to ensure business suitability.
-Plan in daily sample requests, keeping in mind factory process flow and HACCP procedures.
-Work cross functionally with Process Technologists on NPD handover at relevant development stages.
-Record recipe details and processes ensuring all documentation is completed and kept up to date throughout development from concept to launch.
-Carry out analytical testing for shelf-life validation and assess quality attributes.
-Actively contribute to and arrange development led meetings, including customer presentations and development to launch meetings.
-Work closely with the commercial team to ensure cost effectiveness of recipes.
-Any other reasonable duties as requested to fulfil the requirements of the role and to support additional business departments.
-Must be a confident and competent communicator at all levels.
-Approachable, flexible and professional.
-HND or Degree qualified in a Food Science or equivalent.
-Must have a full clean driving licence.
-Customer service experience advantageous but not essential.
-Enthusiastic and highly motivated with a keen interest in food and product development.
-A team player, with the ability to work autonomously.
