We are seeking newly qualified GPs who have not held substantive posts to work in PCNs across the London Borough of Hillingdon on a fixed term contract.
Main duties of the jobThis is a position for newly qualified GPs (within 2 years of CCT date & not having held a substantive post before) to work in PCNs within Hillingdon on a fixed term contract until 31.03.25.
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
This post may require you to travel between different practices within a PCN in the borough of Hillingdon as and when required and will require you to be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a certificate of completion of training within two years.
This role does NOT apply to General Medical Practitioners who are beyond the second anniversary of their certificate of completion of training.

Our ValuesWe work together to make a difference for patientsWe care enough to go the extra mileWe support, trust, and empowerWe sincerely value each otherWe support primary care to own its destinyJob responsibilitiesIn accordance with the PCN/Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone/video consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the practice or external organisations.Assessing the health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.Contributing to QOF requirements and recording data appropriately.Contributing to PCN requirements and recording data appropriately.In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health-related illnesses.Screening patients for health education.Admitting and discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.Collecting data for audit purposes and contributing to the practice audit programme as required.Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions using ESP (avoiding physical or hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).Prescribing in accordance with the accepted prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.Take responsibility for some aspects of the clinical work within the team, for example coordinating aspects of governance, QOF, enhanced services, CPD and keeping clinical protocols up to date.In general, the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, as set by Royal College of General Practitioners, General Medical Council, all other Royal colleges and councils applicable to the staff within the practice, Department of Health, Clinical Commissioning Groups and all other regulatory and standard setting organisations.Person SpecificationExperienceExperience of working within the NHS, with general public & team workingWell developed IT skills and an enthusiasm for new applications and softwareGood time management and highly organisedAbility to use initiative, judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and local knowledgeInterest in quality improvement workAble to obtain and analyse complex technical informationRecognises priorities when problem solving and identifies deviations from the normal pattern and is able to refer to seniors when appropriateAble to work under pressure and to meet deadlinesProduce timely and informative reportsGain acceptance for Recommendations and influence/motivate/persuade the audience to comply with the recommendations/agreed course action where there may be significant barriers.Work effectively independently and as a team memberDemonstrates accountability for delivering professional expertise and direct service provisionQualificationsEligible to work in UKNewly qualified GP (no more than 2 years qualified) with no previous substantive postAble to carry out duties with or without premises adaptationGMC registrationOther postgraduate qualifications (Minor Surgery, Education, Family planning etc)OtherSelf-MotivationAdaptableFull Driving LicenceImmunisation status - Hep B / MMRDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
