Job summary Band 5 Newly Qualified MidwifeAre you a highly motivated band 5 midwife, with a passion for promotingand safe & effective care?If you have a passion for excellence, then Mid Yorkshire is the Trustfor you!We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic band 5midwife to join our Maternity team.Approximately 5,600 women each year choose to birth at Mid-YorkshireTeaching NHS Trust.
We provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal careacross the Wakefield district and North Kirklees.The band 5 midwife willwork with the Maternity team to ensure that women receive high quality care andan excellent experience whilst in the maternity unit.The Trust recognises that the preceptorship period is a time whereindividuals require support to consolidate their learning and enhance theskills, they have developed during their midwifery training.
As such we provide a robust onboarding and induction programme plussupernumerary time in each clinical area.A preceptorship package lasting 12-24 months consisting of at least threerotations in both inpatient and outpatient areas.Full and part time options in a Trust working towards the principles ofFlex for the Future, with a range of flexible working opportunities.Access to support from our dedicated Professional Midwifery Advocacyteam.Regular 1-1s with the Preceptorship midwife to ensure progress anddevelopment on your learning journey.Inclusive approach to ongoing career and development opportunitieswithin the Trust.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will provide safe, high quality evidence based care throughout the maternity pathway, in partnership with the woman, he /she will assess needs, planning, implementing and evaluating care on an individual basis, promoting equality and considering diversity and rights.The role includes keeping documentation in accordance with NMC Code.To contribute to the provision of evidence based professional midwifery servicesTo provide high quality holistic perinatal midwifery care sensitive to the needs of the woman and her family.To work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team in all settings, providing continuity of carer according to the local models of care.This includes partnership working with general practitioners, obstetricians, midwives, health visitors and other agencies, to ensure that safe quality care is received by women and their families throughout the maternity pathway.The post holder will complete the agreed LMNS preceptorship package with support and as part of their professional development and transition to Band 6.
During the preceptorship period the midwife will have the opportunity to provide care across the perinatal pathway in a variety of settings.To act as a clinical role model and practice autonomously within the parameters of local and national guidance and sphere of professional practice, adhering at all times to The Code for Nurses and Midwives (NMC, 2018) and working within the policies and standards detailed by the Trust.

Participates in provision of public healthinformationProvide health/parent education eitherindividually or in groups to maximise the benefit to families.Facilitate womens involvement in thedecision making process regarding all aspects of their pregnancy birth andpostnatal care.
Participates in departmental team meetingsand other committees when necessary.

Qualifications Essential Registered Midwife Met the NMC Standards for pre-registration midwifery education.
