New Views is a year-long in-school playwriting programme for students aged 14 to 19.
Each school is paired with a professional playwright who supports students to write their own plays, through visits, mentoring and teacher CPD.
The programme has been on pause across the 2024 / 2025 academic year, to enable an in-depth review and evaluation of the programme and will relaunch in 2025.
The New Views Project Manager is managed by the Head of Young People's Programmes.
The Project Manager manages the daily running of the New Views programme, in particular acting as the point of contact between participating schools and freelance staff and artists working on the programme, and producing the New Views Festival at the National Theatre.
They are also responsible for the coordination of events that take place as part of the programme, maintaining the programme website and implementing communications about New Views.
Knowledge, skills and experience Substantial experience of developing and producing theatre or writing projects.
Experience of managing freelance staff and knowledge of artists working professionally in the field of arts and education.
Experience of working with young people, teachers, and Head Teachers in schools.
Some experience of developing resources, including digital resources.
Experience in using digital technology and social media as part of a broad communications strategy.
Experience of working with playwrights or developing plays.
Excellent project management and organisational skills with delivery to budget and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
A thorough knowledge of all aspects of theatre-making, particularly new-writing.
A good knowledge of school culture and the education system.
An understanding of working in a national context.
Some knowledge of educational research and evaluation.
Self-motivated and the ability to work in a self-directed way.
Willingness to work flexibly and to travel extensively across the UK as necessary.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure and appointment to this post is subject to the NT being in receipt of a satisfactory DBS Disclosure, under section 115 of the Police Act 1997.
