Job overviewWe are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Neurosurgery team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as an Neurosurgery Apprentice. In this role, you will support the team with a variety of tasks, including clinic bookings, preparation for Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, planning patient admissions, and responding to patient queries via telephone and the mailbox. This apprenticeship provides hands-on experience of the essential administrative tasks within the Neurosurgery Department. The post holder will be part of the multidisciplinary neurosurgical teams, offering administrative support to ensure the effective delivery of clinical services. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment, with comprehensive on-site training.
The position is part of a Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship, fixed-term for up to 18 months.
Main duties of the jobAs a Neurosurgery Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Neurosurgery team in delivering high-quality patient care and services. This will include:
Coordinate patient admissions, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date, while addressing patient and family queries.Work with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to plan admissions and provide patients with necessary information.Manage waiting lists, admission data, and patient bookings, ensuring smooth clinic operations.Support MDT meetings by preparing materials, maintaining records, and following up on treatment plans and appointments.Assist with general outpatient clinic bookings, ensuring accurate scheduling and communication with patients and staff.Use EPIC to book admissions for surgery and outpatient appointments.Person specificationMaths and English grades A-C or equivalentNHS or Healthcare ExperienceExperience of running and maintaining computerised databasesAble to work consistently with minimal supervision.Basic knowledge of cancer and its managementIMPORTANT Check your email account regularly as this is how we will communicate with you.To enquire about your application or inform us of any changes in your circumstances, please contact the named person on this advert.All staff have a responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and for ensuring they are aware of the specific duties relating to their role.Due to a high volume of applications, this advert might close before the displayed closing date.
