Net Zero Consultant

Sustainable Energy First are seeking an experienced Net Zero Consultant to lead and deliver strategic Net Zero projects, manage a diverse portfolio of contracts and ensure high-quality outcomes aligned with client goals.
You will act as a trusted subject matter expert, providing technical consultancy on regulatory compliance, public sector reporting, and emerging trends in the Net Zero landscape.
Leading small project teams, you will oversee efficient resource management, deliverable quality, and ensure progress through measurement and verification.
Additionally, you'll drive innovation in Net Zero product strategies, engage with stakeholders, and mentor team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
This role offers the opportunity to combine leadership, technical expertise, and strategic delivery in a dynamic organisation.

Requirements: Education & Certification: Sustainability/Net Zero qualification or relevant degree/certification.
Professional memberships (e.g., EMA, CIBSE, ASHRAE, EI, CDP, GRI, CISL) desirable.
Technical Expertise: Carbon Reporting: Experience with GHG Protocol and Scope 1, 2, 3 inventories.
Lifecycle Carbon Analysis/Embodied Carbon Assessment: Familiarity with accounting methodologies desirable.
GHG Target Setting: Practical experience with SBTi, FLAG (desirable).
Net Zero Experience: Experience developing and implementing Net Zero Strategies for complex organisations or manufacturing.
Voluntary Frameworks: Experience with reporting standards (CDP, GRI, ISO14064, SBTi, UKGBC) desirable.
Carbon Offsetting/Avoidance: Knowledge of voluntary carbon markets.
Sustainability Experience: Broader experience with ESG metrics, environmental sustainability, and reporting.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse data sets and convey insights effectively.
Energy Management: Understanding of energy savings programs and net-zero roadmaps.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with energy management and compliance frameworks (CCA, SECR, UK ETS, etc.).
Project Management: Proven experience managing projects on time and within budget.
Leadership of small teams to ensure efficient delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
Communication & Business Development: Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
Proven client relationship management and stakeholder engagement experience.
Problem-Solving & Innovation: Strong problem-solving ability and innovative thinking to support net-zero initiatives.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Technical Tools: Advanced MS Office skills; experience in energy-related software tools is advantageous.
Other information Salary £62.3k per annum (depending on experience) with a performance related bonus
Starting at 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
Fully remote working
Birthday day off
