The role will be part of the Transport Consulting team, working closely with the wider Plan Zero Consulting team, advising our customers on the trends and how they should respond to reduce emissions.
By working at the interface of the Consulting and Business Development teams, the role will ensure that Consulting outputs and opportunities can move into the delivery and execution phase.
Job Overview We are looking for a Net Zero Analyst with 1 to 3 years of experience in energy and sustainability to join our dynamic team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of Net Zero strategies for our clients by analysing complex data sets, calculating carbon footprints, and developing insights that guide decarbonisation efforts.
This role is ideal for someone with a technical background, preferably in engineering and sustainablity, who is passionate about sustainability and eager to make a tangible impact.
Key Responsibilities: Data Management & Analysis: Clean, process, and analyse large and complex data sets related to energy consumption, carbon emissions (across all scopes), and building profiles.
Use internal tools and software to identify trends, perform emissions calculations, and generate insights from both location-based and market-based emissions factors.
Collaborate with engineers to interpret and present data related to the impact of various Net Zero initiatives.
Carbon Footprint Calculation: Calculate past, present, and future carbon footprints across all scopes (1, 2, and 3).
Model the impact of different Net Zero strategies, initiatives, and technologies to forecast carbon reductions over time.
Client Reporting & Strategy Development: Support the development of client-facing reports by translating data insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
Help in the creation of decarbonisation strategies by providing key data insights and collaborating with consultants and engineers.
Engage in research on emerging environmental regulations and best practices for emissions reductions to ensure compliance with both regulatory and voluntary frameworks.
Tool & Resource Development: Assist in the development of analytical tools and resources to support ongoing carbon reduction efforts.
Research and summarize key environmental and technical topics to support consulting work and client education.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental), Sustainability, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in the energy, sustainability, or carbon management sector, with hands-on experience in data analysis and energy performance.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to process and interpret large data sets.
Proficiency in data management tools and software.
Understanding of carbon accounting principles and emissions factors (location-based and market-based).
Familiarity with regulatory and voluntary compliance requirements around carbon reporting (e.g., SECR, ESOS, GHG Protocol).
