Neighbourhood Officer - The Role: We are currently seeking a Neighbourhood Officer.
This is a fixed term position for a period of 6 months.
Working with partners, including the police, BID and Cheltenham Safe you will work to ensure a safe and clean environment for the community by taking action to prevent, reduce and investigate the range of Anti-social behaviour and environmental crime.
Evening/night work will be required on a regular basis.
You may need use of a car for work purposes.
Neighbourhood Officer - Key Responsibilities: - To proactively prevent, reduce and investigate issues and complaints concerning offences of enviro-crime and Anti- Social Behaviour (ASB) such as: fly tipping, littering, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, dog offences, low level anti-social behaviour - Working in partnership, develop relationships with the Police, partner agencies, residents and businesses in order to proactively prevent environmental crime and ASB - To carry out regular uniformed patrols around the borough providing support, reassurance and acting as the eyes and ears' of the community - To represent the council in court when undertaking prosecutions or other legal cases connected to the caseload Neighbourhood Officer - You: - GCSEs (5 A-Cs or equivalent, including Maths and English) and A level NVQ3, or BTEC relevant professional qualification (Office/ Admin e.g.
CLAIT) - Experience of dealing with antisocial behaviour and/or envirocrime type complaints and complex investigations - Experience of effectively managing and diffusing difficult or challenging situations in a customer and public facing role - Experience and/or understanding of PACE procedures and Court hearings - Ability to proactively identify issues and to use discretion and make informed judgements - Ability to make appropriate interventions both formal and informal in line with corporate policies and procedures Neighbourhood Officer - Benefits: - An excellent pension scheme.
