Job summary Interview date - 10th January 2025We are inviting applications from inclusive, dynamic, motivated, innovative and efficient registered nurses with expert skills and knowledge in safeguarding to join our Integrated Safeguarding Team as the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children, Adults and MCA.
The role involves working closely with a range of stakeholders and partners to develop, implement, oversee and improve safeguarding practice.
The Named Nurse is a senior member of the safeguarding team, providing direct line management and support within the team.
You will be working alongside another Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children, Adults and MCA under the leadership and support of an experienced MCA Lead and Deputy Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Adults.

Main duties of the job Thenamed nurse will work in a team of competent safeguarding practitioners allcommitted to making a difference through the safeguarding agenda.
The namednurse will work across the safeguarding agenda and will support thesafeguarding team to discharge its safeguarding children, adults, and MentalCapacity Act (MCA) statutory duties and responsibilities.
Therole will be responsible for producing high quality analytical reports tosupport the Serious Review Process which will include Domestic HomicideReviews, Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and Safeguarding Adult reviews.
Thepost holder will hold line management responsibilities within the safeguardingteam and support the Designated and Named Nurses to deliver an inclusiveworking environment that nurtures learning and effective provision of qualityservices.
They will play a key role in developing and supporting othersinformed by the appraisal process, fostering inclusivity, diversity andequality.
Thepost holder will work in partnership to support stakeholders including healthproviders, NHS E/I, the children and adult safeguarding partnership/ board,advocacy services and other health and non-health partners in carrying outtheir safeguarding responsibilities and in embedding the principles of the MCA.

Job description Job responsibilities Some key aspects of the role Work in partnership to support stakeholders including health providers, NHS E/I, the children and adult safeguarding partnership/ board, advocacy services and other health and non-health partners in carrying out their safeguarding responsibilities and in embedding the principles of the MCA.
Contribute to Safeguarding Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews and other safeguarding board led reviews and meetings on behalf of the ICB producing high quality, analytical reports.
Propose, contribute to, develop, and implement single and multi-agency strategies, policies, procedures, practice guidance and protocols relating to safeguarding.
Lead on the dissemination and embedding of learning resulting from single and multi-agency reviews and audits.
Support the Designated/ Deputy Designated Nurses in providing nursing leadership to the health economy.
Support and play an active role in the Safeguarding and MCA training strategy.
Participate and deputise for the Designated Nurses, Deputy Designated Nurse and MCA Lead and where necessary at multi-agency subgroups of the LSCP/LSAB, MCA/LIN and Safer Stronger Communities Work closely with colleagues in the ICB to provide safeguarding health specialist advice within the Serious Incident process.
Take a lead role in line management across the team.
Provide timely, specialist safeguarding advice across the health economy in Leeds utilising a variety of communication methods.
Give MCA advice to ICB staff, commissioned services and partner agencies and to escalate queries and complex cases to MCA Lead.
Advise partner agencies on health matters with regard to safeguarding children and adults at risk including advice on highly complex, contentious safeguarding issues.
Provide support and specialist safeguarding to ICB staff and with support from MCA Lead and Deputy Designated Nurse for safeguarding Work autonomously with significant discretion to occupational and organisational policy including multi-agency safeguarding policies, procedures, and protocol.
Take a lead, role alongside the Named GPs for safeguarding in improving safeguarding practice within primary care.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the principles of data security and data protection.
Follow a professional Code of Conduct, where relevant to the post.
Participate in the organisational appraisal process.
Be expected to undertake ongoing professional and personal development in line with the responsibilities of the post.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential NMC Registered Nurse or Midwife Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
Best Interest Assessor (BIA) qualification or a commitment to undertake the BIA course Desirable NMC Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) Experience Essential Further knowledge of safeguarding, and MCA including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards acquired through level of training/education or equivalent experience.
A good working knowledge of safeguarding and MCA legislation, policies, procedures and best practice guidance for both children and adults at risk safeguarding and its application in health services Significant safeguarding and MCA experience, including developing/ delivering training, policies and service improvement.
Experience of contributing to Safeguarding Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews and other safeguarding board led reviews and producing high quality, analytical reports.
Evidence of working with people with complex needs and multi-agency working in complex situations.
Experience of leading and managing staff.
Experience of communicating and engaging effectively with external agencies/stakeholder Experience of working in the NHS Desirable Experience of leading change in safeguarding arena Skills & Behaviours Essential Demonstrates professional curiosity and understands the principles of confidentiality Confident and flexible approach with the ability to prioritise and re-prioritise workload as urgent situations develop Computer literate with an ability to use the required systems/office packages Able to provide, receive, convey and present information in a clear way Able to plan and organise a broad range of complex activities.
