An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy team working for Dorset HealthCare University NHS Trust based at Bridport Community Hospital. As a key member of the team you will find the experience challenging, rewarding and varied.
At work - you would be joining our team working in a clean and modern environment in our friendly Community Hospital at Bridport. The Outpatient Physio team have strong links to the local community in the area, linking with local leisure services and community groups. Within Dorset HealthCare Trust, we work closely with the MSK Orthopaedic Interface service (known as Dorset MSK) and our local hospitals. Through these links, we can further your experience to expand your knowledge and skills and provide career development opportunities.

Main duties of the job The main responsibilities will be:
To work autonomously to provide skilled assessment and treatment/management for a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including those with complex needs. Referrals are received from GP, Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, MIU/A+E, self referral and other NHS colleagues. When appropriate onward referral to other services may be required. To support the development of students and other colleagues. This will include being a student educator and being involved in In-house training. To assist the Team Lead in the management of the Physiotherapy Service i.e triage, service development. Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position. Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Person Specification Knowledge, Skills and Training Essential Diploma/ Bsc(Hons) Physiotherapy degree State registration in UK as a physiotherapist. Evidence of knowledge of current best practice in musculoskeletal physiotherapy to inform clinical decision making. Evidence of relevant post graduate training in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy Personal Qualities/ Attributes Essential Motivated to update knowledge and skills. Evidence of communication with a wide variety of people Ability to handle difficult or emotional situations sensitively, diplomatically and empathetically Ability to work as part of a team Enthusiastic and positive attitude with an ability to engage and motivate others Job Specific Experience Essential Evidence of providing teaching to other physiotherapy colleagues and students Evidence of wide and varied experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessment and treatment within the NHS Ability to work independently and responsibly as an autonomous practitioner without direct supervision Ability to communicate effectively despite potential barriers to communication. Desirable Good understanding of own role in the multidisciplinary patient pathway. Ability to initiate and lead on service improvements Managerial Experience Essential Ability to be well organized and manage time effectively to manage a demanding workload to agreed timescales. Good understanding of how to utilise resources in an effective and cost productive manner Desirable Experience of supervising others i.e., less experienced staff and students. Experience of providing teaching for other physiotherapy colleagues and students.
