Job summary This advert is only open to applicants currentlyemployed by Mid Yorkshire Trust.We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Adult Nursesworking at MYTT who hold an active and relevant degree, to study Midwifery atMasters level (MSc).
Working alongside the team in Maternity at MYTT, youwill undertake the MSc programme over 24 months via University of Bradford.
This course aims to equip you with the skills,knowledge and professional insight in order to become a Registered Midwifewhile working at MYTT.Salary support for the two year course willbe provided by Health Education England at a maximum salary of top Band Five asper Agenda for Change.
As this is a studentship, previous higher salary bandingwill not be matched, and there are no enhanced payments for working unsociablehours.
Health Education England will also be funding all university tuitionfees for those commencing the MSc Midwifery shortened course between January2022-April 2025 (up to a maximum of £9,250 per annum).
Successful applicantswill need to be able to travel to the University of Bradford for thetheoretical elements of the course which will make up approximately 12 days peryear.
The course will commence on 24th March 2025.Please ensure you are able to attend the Assessment Day on 24th January 2025 and produce ALL relevant certificates.
If you cannot produce the certification, you will not be able to complete the pre-employment checks and your application will not be progressed.
Main duties of the job The MSc programme provides Registered AdultNurses, who hold a relevant degree, with the opportunity to study Midwifery andbecome equipped with skills, knowledge and professional insight needed tobecome a Midwife.
You will work alongside the Midwifery teams atMYTT; community, Labour Ward and the antenatal/postnatal ward, to develop the skills needed to care for families throughoutthe antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.
You will be supported by Midwives to develop skills and confidence and achieve proficienciesrequired to progress during the course.
You will graduate ready to succeedas a Registered Midwife with well-rounded knowledge and hands-on experience,making you eligible to register with the NMC as a Midwife.
The aim of this course is to prepare Nurses to become safe,competent and confident Midwives who can contribute positively to the health ofchildbearing women, families and their unborn/newborn babies.
They will besupported to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be able to meet thefuture challenges of a rapidly evolving healthcare system.
The MSc course will build on skills you already have as aNurse, allowing you to continue working as a valued part of themulti-disciplinary team and help you to develop into an autonomous RegisteredMidwife ready to join the MYTT Maternity team.We are unable to sponsor roles that do not meet the minimumsalary requirements; please check the UK immigration skilled worker rules formore information.

Job description Job responsibilities A student midwife works under the direction and supervision of a registered midwife in order to:ClinicalProvide safe, high-quality and evidence-based care throughout the maternity pathway, according to local and national guidelines and policies.Ensure information is communicated in a clear and unbiased way to facilitate informed decision making.Work in partnership with the woman; assess individual and risk associated needs/recommendations; plan, implement and evaluate care on an individual basis; promote equality and considers diversity and rights.Maintain contemporaneous documentation in accordance with the NMC Code.Liaise and work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies, when complex needs are identified.Continuously assess risks and deviations from normal and ensure timely referral, intervention and escalation.Consider the diverse needs of women and their families and ensure the delivery of individualised plans of care.Participates in provision of public health information.Provide health/parent education either individually or in groups to maximise the benefit to families.Facilitate womens involvement in the decision-making process regarding all aspects of their pregnancy birth and postnatal care.Participates in departmental team meetings and other committees when necessary.Work flexibly across different wards/departments as indicated by service needs.Maintain compliance with Trust policies in relation to Infection Control.Communicates in a clear and unbiased manner with women and families and the multi-disciplinary team.Works within national and local guidelines in relation to midwifery practice.Undertakes all such reasonable other duties as may be required as part of the role.Escalates any concerns in relation to professional practice to relevant person/agency.Liaises with outside agencies to enhance individualised care for more complex situations such as safeguarding, domestic abuse or substance misuse.Maintains professional conduct including appearance at all times adhering to the local Trust uniform policy.

This must be maintained to meet the NMC revalidation requirements for the duration of the course.
A Degree or Diploma in Higher Education or 60 level 5 credits.
