Description We are looking for a Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship Trainer to: Provide all apprentices and employers supporting an apprentice with the required initial advise and guidance on the course content, course delivery mode and end point assessment process.
Checking that the employment setting is able to provide the broad range of work tasks needed for the apprentice to develop the skills needed for the job and the apprenticeship standard.
Ensure that apprentices prepare and upload to our electronic portfolio Smart Assessor all work place evidence required to meet the criterial of the Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship standard.
Ensure that students are logging all learning activities and are meeting the minimum of 20% off the job learning.
Continually monitor the progress of the apprentice and prepare and present 12 weekly progress reports to the college, the employer and the apprentice.
Plan and book the end point assessments and support student on the assessment days.
Work with the course lectures with supporting students, collate progress reports regarding attendance, time keeping, progress toward course work and update the students learning plan.
The right candidate for this role will have a strong understanding of the technical skills required to be a qualified motor mechanic, will understand the day-to-day tasks conducted in a motor vehicle service and repair centre, will highly organised with confident IT skills.
You will be required to travel to apprentices places of employment to provide mentoring, meet with employers and ensure that the apprentice is progressing well on the job.
There for it is essential that you can drive and have your own vehicle.
Main Responsibilities and Duties: The following is an indication of the type and level of the main priorities expected of this role as directed by your line manager and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties or tasks: 1.
Deliver high quality teaching/ assessing in a designated vocational area in accordance with approved College standards and applicable validating/ moderating bodies, preparing teaching materials, schemes of work and lesson plans as required, developing and implementing the revised curriculum, undertaking quality assurance in collaboration with the other College staff as applicable, assessing students written and practical work, monitoring and reporting on their progress including writing regular reviews of students Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), recording, reporting and disseminating assessment grades and students results in liaison with other College delivery staff, parents, carers, employers and professional agencies as appropriate.
This will include maintaining good order in the teaching environment, including statutory aspects such as safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and safety.

Undertake day to day course management duties including all communication, problem solving, diagnostic compliance, timetable checks and amendments, arranging/ providing cover at short notice for lessons or offsite where needed, co-ordinating internal verification scheduling, liaising with all relevant departments as required e.g.
Exams, MIS, ALS, etc.
and complete all related organisation and administration, ensuring cross site compliance and consistency can be maintained at all times.

Visit students in their workplace, setting work place skill development targets with students and their employers, monitoring progress throughout the programme and assessing their competency as required in line with the awarding organisation competency criteria.
4.
Assist with the recruitment and selection of suitable candidates for courses, managing enrolment procedures effectively, including Qualifications on Entry, transfers, additional qualification aims and late enrolments, to ensure that students are registered on the right course at the correct level.
This will include assisting with the organisation and implementation of appropriate Induction Programmes for students.
5.
Conduct initial consultation with recruiting employers, complete skills scan and range of scop assessment to ensure apprentice responsibilities are mapped to appropriate learning programme for required job outcome.
6.
Undertake all required meetings with students, including regular one to one meetings with students setting and reviewing SMART targets, assisting students with UCAS references, supporting students with their pastoral needs, guiding and directing in both academic and personal matters and liaising with cross-college services.
The frequency of student meetings will be determined by the Head of Department.
7.
Monitor student attendance and student results, including start of year registers, exam entry and attendance, co-ordinating and administering course performance monitoring, to report on attendance, retention, achievement and success, with appropriate course and student action plans where required.
8.
Promote and support English and Maths provision, both in class and on a one-to-one basis, including monitoring and addressing attendance to English and Maths lessons.
9.
Ensure that teaching resources are maintained and ordered as appropriate, maintain all teaching and practical assessment areas to a high standards, preparing and setting up tools and materials for classes and assessment.
10.
Attend meetings, including staff meetings, employer meetings, marketing events, courses and discussions, internal and external to the College as directed and reporting back as appropriate.
This will include planning and co-ordinating review and progress meetings as directed.
11.
Work with colleagues throughout the College to develop courses, training methods and materials, including attendance at Focus Days and other compulsory CPD events and participate in peer observation for developmental purposes, ensuring adherence to college policies and practices.
This will include mentoring other staff as required.
12.
Assist with departmental administration including the timely marking of registers, updating of Smart Assessor, producing reports on student attendance, retention and achievement, participating in relevant college meetings/ groups/ committees and quality assurance mechanisms e.g.
verification, moderation, course reviews and Self-Assessment Reviews (SAR).
All staff are required to: Complete mandatory annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with the number of hours set for their Department.
Travel between sites as and when required in accordance with their job role.
Undertake occasional evening and weekend work to meet the needs of the service.
Comply with and understand all aspects of legislation and College policies and processes relating to safeguarding, including promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
Comply with, understand and promote statutory and college best practice in Health & Safety at a level relevant to the role and responsibilities held by the post holder.

Have access to confidential information which should not be disclosed to any other person unless in pursuit of your duties in compliance with GDPR or with the specific permission given on behalf of the College.

Promote, adhere to, understand and put into practice all college policies and procedures.
