Main duties of the job We are looking for someone who has great computer skills and is competent with data entry and able to prioritise requests coming into the department.Good communication skills and knowledge of the Data Protection Act are essential.This role is not entirely office based and will involve working in a clinical mortuary environment.This is a demanding but rewarding role offering a vital service to the Trust.Working hours: per week About us Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS hospital services for around 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and south Buckinghamshire.

Job description Job responsibilities KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: To contribute to the management of the mortuary storage facility ensuring HTA guidelines and departmental protocols are followed.
Financial & Management To be aware of the financial constraints within the NHS and Pathology and ensure that there is no unnecessary wastage of supplies or resources.
Personnel & Training To work closely with fellow mortuary technicians and Pathologists To host mortuary tours for working groups within the trust and visiting Funeral Directors, Hospital Clinicians, and retrieval teams In conjunction with the Senior APT, to provide and certify training of porters and visiting Funeral Directors in use of mortuary equipment, mortuary process and handling of deceased within the mortuary environment.
Service Delivery and Quality To undertake the receipt and release of deceased in line with departmental protocols and HTA guidelines, ensuring all identification checks as per relevant legislation are completed, ensuring the dignity of the deceased and adherence to the needs of HM Coroners for Surrey and Hampshire.
To maintain the mortuary premises in terms of hygiene and infection control both for the storage of routine and verminous deceased and after invasive post-mortem procedures have been undertaken To maintain all mortuary records as per HTA legislation and the needs of the Trust and HM Coroners for Surrey and Berkshire Liaise with the bereavement team, medical examiners, funeral directors, junior doctors and consultants regarding management of deceased whilst in the mortuary facility.
To prepare deceased for viewings, to wash/clean and reset facial features to make the viewing as positive an experience for next of kin and visiting relatives Please refer to the attached JD and Person Specification for further information.
