THE POSITION An opportunity within VPI has arisen for an Outage & Project Quality Engineer to be based at one our sites within our expanding Portfolio.
As part of our Portfolio Engineering Team, you will be responsible for supporting all planning & execution activities relating to Quality Management across the Portfolio.
In doing so you will be the key interface between the individual sites and many of the Portfolio support functions as well as key contract partners.
Our sites include – Blackburn (Lancashire), Damhead Creek (Kent), Immingham (North Lincolnshire), Rye House (Hertfordshire) and Shoreham (East Sussex).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Working within the Engineering team, you will drive the quality management process for a wide range of projects ensuring all measured quality KPI's are successfully achieved.
• You will be the main interface to ensure that all VPI Portfolio Outage & Key Projects have suitable Quality Control Plans and strategies in place prior to project execution.
• Auditing of agreed Quality Control Plans (VPI & that of key contract partners) will be key within your role to ensure utmost compliance.
• Reporting on Quality KPI's via a standardised reporting format to all key stakeholders will be essential.
• Responsible for ensuring adhoc & planned projects are subject to all best practice Quality Control processes regardless of induced pressures.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE • Experience in Large Rotating Plant and/or HRSG Pressure System in large Industrial processes (Power Generation desirable with either a Mechanical, Controls or Electrical background) • Expert knowledge in project execution with regards to Quality Management (from planning stages to hand over and contract completion) • Educated to minimum HNC standard, with degree desired within an Engineering biased discipline.
• Excellent knowledge of Quality Control Systems inc. but not limited to; quality plans, hold point tracking, clean conditions, FME etc.
• Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g.
health & safety, CDM and environmental requirements • Excellent knowledge of contract management • Solid understanding of work planning tools and the work control process • Good working knowledge of the Generation Safety Rules • Good working knowledge of business IT systems (including MS Office, Maximo and Cintellate, MS Project etc).
