We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the Model Management Team in the role of Model Risk Manager: Retail Credit Risk The role of Model Risk Manager within the Model Management Team sits within the wider Retail Credit Risk Analytics function for the UK Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) Risk Organisation.
The role holder will report to the Head of Model Management and have day to day responsibility for the core model risk management and maintenance of all Decision and Basel Models.
The role holder will have informal management responsibilities, including work prioritisation and escalation of issues, for analysts based in the UK and the Global Analytics Centre in India.
The role holder will be responsible for activities such as review of model monitoring and realignments, completing regular model first line assessments, support of second line assessments and data quality report production.
The scope of the models includes acquisition, behaviour, and fraud scorecards for HSBC, first direct, Marks and Spencer Bank and John Lewis retail products (Mortgages, Credit Cards, Current Account/Overdrafts and Personal Loans).
The role holder will be required to engage with multiple stakeholders across Credit Risk, Model Risk Management and the business at a UK and Global level within WPB.
The role holder will ensure work and models are managed to ensure compliance with group policies, adherence to relevant legislation and develop an in-depth understanding of the portfolio, people dynamics, economy, and cultures.
In this role you will: Drive, shape, and lead the analytics for model risk management, including the production and review of data quality reporting, model monitoring, model realignments and model assessments for UK WPB Decision and Basel Models.
Communication of model performance results and model risk status to senior stakeholders at UK and Global forums, appropriately escalating issues, and proposed actions for resolution of issues to model sponsors and risk owners.
Contribute to and have influence on the project planning process, regularly liaising with stakeholders and project sponsors.
Proactively manage and, when necessary, challenge requests for unplanned or ad-hoc tasks to ensure delivery of key projects.
Contribute to the continuous improvement plan by advancing report capabilities with the latest technologies and applying innovative solutions to address challenges and enhance processes.
Positively support the vision and strategy of the department, working with the Senior Leadership Team to engage and motivate team members.
Act as a role model for colleagues and team members.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements: Experience of using relevant software packages to allow for people development and analytics productions, i.e.
SAS / SQL / Python/ R / Microsoft Office / Qliksense.
Relevant retail product knowledge including knowledge of Credit Cards, Mortgages, Loans and Overdrafts, and an understanding of how statistical models and data driven business rules are applied effectively to credit portfolios.
Experience working in relevant role, i.e.
Credit/Risk/Analytics & specifically Basel or Regulatory Modelling/Model Management This role is based in This is a hybrid role and can be based in Birmingham, Chester, or Sheffield.
