Minor Illness Nurse

Job summary Queens Park Group Surgery in Bedford is looking to welcome an experienced minor illness nurse into our practice to assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate treatment programmes for our patients, on a full or part time basis depending on the successful applicant.
Main duties of the job Attending to patients who wish to be seen by a health care professional to either care for them or if this is not appropriate, triage them to an appropriate appointment with another more appropriate clinician; Diagnosing and treating patients presenting with minor illness and treating them following practice guidelines and protocols Seeing and advising people in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needsThese patients will have booked appointments at ten-minute intervals.
There is a requirement to see extra or emergency patients.
The nurse practitioner will need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients accordingly making any necessary referrals for investigations in the appropriate manner.
Patients with problems needing referral to secondary care should be discussed with the GP who is supervising or, if unavailable at an appropriate interval with another GP in the practice before making a referral.
About us We are a very long-established practice working on two sites in Bedford, looking after 12,500 patients.
We are also care-taking another local practice in Bedford, with a list size of 9,000 patients.

Person Specification Experience Essential Minimum of 2 years related experience or equivalent.
