About the Role: As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant (TA) , you will work closely with pupils experiencing mental health challenges, offering tailored support to help them access the curriculum and build their confidence.
Your role will involve promoting emotional well-being, encouraging positive behaviour and fostering a nurturing learning environment.
Mental Health Teaching Assistant (TA) Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and group support to pupils, helping them develop coping mechanisms and resilience.
Assist in creating and implementing personalised support plans in collaboration with teachers and SENCOs.
Support pupils with emotional regulation, promoting a positive and inclusive classroom experience.
Facilitate activities that encourage social interaction and build self-esteem.
Act as a trusted mentor, offering guidance and encouragement to pupils in need.
Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and work collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals.
Mental Health Teaching Assistant (TA) Job Requirements: Previous experience working with children or young people with mental health needs is highly desirable.
A relevant qualification in mental health, psychology, counselling, or education is advantageous.
An empathetic and proactive approach to supporting children facing challenges.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
