Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant Location: Dorchester Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day Start Date: September 2024 Job Type: Full-time Do you have a passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and SEMH (SEMH) needs?
A local SEN school in Dorchester is seeking a committed Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated team in providing inclusive education and pastoral care from September 2024.
Responsibilities: Provide empathetic and nurturing support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to manage their emotions and develop coping strategies.
Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies, working collaboratively with teachers and SENCO to create and maintain a positive learning environment.
Offer tailored support to students both in and out of the classroom, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
Build trusting relationships with students, promoting their self-esteem and encouraging positive social interactions.
Work closely with educational psychologists, social workers, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for students with SEMH needs.
Track and report on student progress, contributing to reviews and assessments to support their educational and personal development.
Qualifications: Experience working with students with SEMH needs in an educational or similar setting.
Understanding of SEMH issues and effective strategies for supporting students.
Patience, resilience, and a calm demeanour to manage challenging situations sensitively.
Excellent communication skills to liaise with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing positively to the school community.
