About the role: As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will help individuals struggling with mental health issues by offering support and guidance in their daily lives.
They assist clients in developing coping skills and strategies to improve their well-being and handle challenges more effectively.
In this crucial role, you will work closely with students experiencing mental health challenges, providing them with the necessary support to thrive academically and emotionally.
Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For: Provide personalised support to students with complex mental health, anxiety and behaviour needs, making sure their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are followed.
Collaborate with teachers to create an engaging curriculum that addresses mental health and behavioural challenges, including outdoor activities.
Foster a caring learning environment that supports students' social, emotional and mental well-being, focusing on anxiety and behavioural issues.
Administer medications according to school policies and safety guidelines.
Provide personal care, such as help with hygiene and bathing, while always respecting the students' dignity.
Encourage students to become more independent in their daily activities.
Assist students in fully participating in classroom activities by using effective communication techniques as guided by the teacher.
The Successful Candidate Will: A good understanding of the different needs related to mental health, anxiety and behaviour .
The ability to adjust teaching methods to fit the unique needs of each student, especially those dealing with mental health issues.
A patient and caring attitude when handling challenging behaviour.
A proactive and open mindset while working as part of a team with different professionals.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years .
Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education.
