Mental Health Support Worker (Band 3) Location : Various NHS Hospitals and Mental Health Units across Somerset Salary: £11.50 – £17 per hour The organisation is a leading healthcare recruitment agency specialising in providing high-quality, flexible staffing solutions to the NHS.
They are currently seeking experienced Band 3 Mental Health Support Workers to join their growing team for temporary assignments across multiple NHS mental health units and hospitals.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in diverse mental health settings, supporting individuals while gaining valuable experience and offering flexibility in your working hours The Role As a Band 3 Mental Health Support Worker , you will play a vital role in providing direct care and support to individuals with mental health conditions, working under the supervision of qualified mental health professionals.
Your role will include helping to implement care plans, providing emotional support, and assisting in day-to-day activities within a therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities: Provide support to patients with mental health conditions, including those with severe mental illness, anxiety, depression, and other psychological conditions.
Assist in developing and delivering care plans, ensuring they are tailored to the specific needs of each patient.
Support patients in group therapy sessions and one-on-one interactions, promoting recovery-focused approaches.
Monitor and report on patients' mental and physical well-being, including monitoring for any changes in behaviour or mood.
Assist patients with daily activities, personal care, and daily living tasks in a compassionate and respectful manner.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant mental health legislation.
Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients, providing a calming presence during times of distress.
Assist in de-escalating challenging situations and support patients in managing difficult behaviours.
Help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for both patients and staff, adhering to health and safety protocols and mental health policies.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, doctors, social workers, and therapists, to ensure holistic care for patients.
Skills and Qualifications Experience: At least 6 months of experience working with mental health patients, ideally in a healthcare or mental health setting (e.g., hospital, inpatient unit, or community care).
Skills: Strong understanding of mental health conditions, with the ability to respond appropriately to patients' emotional and physical needs.
A compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused approach to care.
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen actively and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism, resilience, and empathy.
Flexibility to work in various NHS mental health settings and across different shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and valid Right to Work in the UK.
Desirable: Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent mental health qualification.
