Job summary The Complex Health Hub consists of 6 specialties, mental health, substance misuse, safeguarding, dementia support, mental capacity and learning disabilities and autism.The purpose of the hub is to bring the 6 specialties together to support the hospital to improve the care, treatment, and outcomes for individuals with complex needs.
Working in a multi-disciplinary way enables our staff to discuss ideas, concerns, and complex cases with each other to identify and implement the appropriate intervention, increasing the likelihood of achieving the best outcome for the child.
This post holder will sit under the mental health specialty of the hub.
This new and exciting opportunity will see the successful candidate support the Paediatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide specialist input to children with an identified mental health need and their families.This is an exciting post and an excellent opportunity for a registered professional to join an established hub, but in a newly formed post Main duties of the job To take a leading role in the delivery of integrated care planning, care co-ordination and risk management of patients who are considered to have a mental health need.To support the Reducing Restrictive Intervention leads with reducing the use of restrictive practice on patients with a mental health need within the medicine division.To provide specialist advice and support to the MDT and ward staff in relation to care and treatment of patients with a mental health need.To provide support to the patients family/caregivers where required.Support the medicine division in reviewing incidents relating to patients with a mental health need, identifying learning and actions to improve patient safety and care.To develop and deliver training to NNUH staff.

To support the medicine division, clinical teams in reviewing levels of enhanced observations for patients who display high risk and/or vulnerable behaviours with an identified or suspected mental health need (including eating disorder/ disordered eating/ ARFID).To provide clinical advice and intervention to patients and their families to ensure they receive holistic care and treatment whilst improving patient experience and outcomes.To provide advice and support to the patients family and support network where required and appropriate.Where patients are detained under the Mental Health Act, the postholder will ensure interventions are carried out within the confines of the law and Mental Health Act Code of Practice, work with the MDT to provide assessment and treatment as required.To co-ordinate and provide the required care, as well as monitor the progress of patients within the identified group, working closely alongside the Mental Health Liaison Service, Adult Community Mental Health Services and Social Care (as well as other agencies involved in the patients care).Co-ordinate and chair MDT meetings where required.To be competent and confident when lone working with the ability to independently make decisions Please see the attached job description for full details.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Professional Body Registration relevant to the role (for example NMC, HCPC or Social Work England, others may be considered if registration is relevant to the role) Experience Essential Significant experience at Band 6 (or equivalent grade) level supporting patients with a mental health need Experience in managing complex MH cases and making autonomous decisions Skills Essential Significant experience in assessing and reviewing mental state and risk in patients with complex mental health needs, co-producing care, and risk management plans Attitude, aptitude Essential Effective role model, demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values of People focussed, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
