Role Summary A new opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Rheumatology Nurse to join our dedicated Multidisciplinary Rheumatology team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation.
The role will be based at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstable, the post holder will work within the acute hospital and cover community clinics across North Devon.
To provide a full and efficient secretarial service for their consultants, nursing team and the wider service.
This will include ensuring that all documentation is produced to an excellent standard.
Strong proof-reading skills are required.
Administrative functions including monitoring patient waiting lists and ensuring compliance with NHS standards.
To coordinate and organise the attendance of patients to appointments in line with local team and Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust arrangements as instructed.
Effective communication, handling correspondence, liaising with Multidisciplinary teams, and managing telephone and email communications.
To contribute to the management of the Consultants and team diary.
To work with the team to ensure adequate cover is in place during periods of leave.
To maintain electronic patient records in line with Trust policies.
Governance adherence, including training and compliance with Trust policies.
To assist other secretaries and members of the admin team in the achievement of a quality service.

More detail about the role The Rheumatology service currently runs multiple outpatient clinics and provides an extensive service to Rheumatology patients in the South West.
The service provides Consultant speciality and Nurse led clinics, in both the North Devon District Hospital and in secondary care settings such as South Molton & Bideford Hospitals.
The successful post holder would ideally have several years Rheumatology experience and have a special interest in supporting and developing Rheumatological Nursing service.
The successful post holder will be able to run patient clinics independently, providing high quality evidence-based care.
They will be expected to take responsibility for their own caseload/ workload within the designated clinical areas and for the assessment and treatment of patients on a day to day basis, without direct guidance from line manager.
You will be expected to work closely with all members of the MDT and to assist the Band 7 Rheumatology Nurse in service development.
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced secretary or administrator to join the team our team as a part time Medical Secretary.
Please note that due to the operational needs of our service the postholder will be required to Monday, Wednesday and Friday PM (until 5pm).
This could be worked as 3 full days or 4/5 shorter days so long as these core PM shifts are included within this pattern.
Based within the Centre for Women's Health on the main Royal Devon and Exeter Wonford site, the post holder will join an established team to provide comprehensive administration support for our patients and clinical team of Consultant Gynaecologist/Obstetricians.
The post holder will have a range of administrative experience, ideally in a secretarial role or within a Healthcare environment; however, we welcome applicants from other sectors who feel they have relevant transferable skills.
Working in a busy and sometimes demanding job, within a supportive team, they must be a good team player and enjoy working within a Multidisciplinary team.
We are looking for someone who is articulate, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise competing workstreams.
Strong organisational skills and IT skills as well as the ability to manage your own caseload without direct supervision is a must.
As the post deals with patients, relatives, and Healthcare professionals, applicants must have excellent communication skills and will be expected to have an empathetic and efficient telephone manner.
Working Pattern: hours per week.
