Job summary 1 x Part Time post (job share) - hours per week (Wed - Fri) to cover Maternity CoverThe Children's Directorate at Russells Hall Hospital is seeking to appoint a Medical Secretary.
This post will provide a comprehensive Medical Secretarial service to the Consultants, Middle Grade Doctors, Clinical Nurse Specialists and supporting teams within the Children's Services Directorate.
To work collaboratively with other Medical Secretary colleagues to ensure clinical correspondence is produced and distributed within designated timescales.
The post holder will carry out his/her duties in such a way to make a direct positive contribution to the organisation.
It is essential that the post holder should exercise initiative commensurate with the role and that confidentiality be maintained at all times.
Main duties of the job Deal with new referral letters and action as appropriateEnsure typing of clinical letters in a timely mannerBe the main point of contact for patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals on behalf of your consultant/sAssist in the planning and organisation of clinical activity (out-patient clinics) by liaising with the appropriate members of staff within the TrustAssist in the collation of information for reports, for example medical reports, risk and complaint management etc.Planning and organising a number of conflicting tasks and priorities at the same time still meeting challenging deadlines.Prioritise workload independently, identifying urgency, highlighting problems and taking appropriate action to prevent or solve problems without supervision.Maintenance of medical recordsMaintenance of individual filing systems on behalf of the consultant and their teamEnsure adequate tracking of medical records both in and out of department About us At the Dudley Group our patients and staff are at the heart of all that we do and that is to provide a world class service that aligns with our vision of "excellent health care, improved health for all".
