Medical Secretary - Community Paediatrics - Band 3

Job summary The Family Health Division incorporates Obstetrics and Gynecology, Acute and Community Paediatrics, Neonates and Breast Surgery across all sites within the Trust.Community Pediatricians look after patients with complex needs including learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder and ADHD.
Main duties of the job To provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrate service to the Consultant, medical staff and supporting team.
To be the responsible person for all administrative duties associated with county wide SUDIC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Children) cases.
Including liaising with local authorities and the police, coroners, typing meetings and listening to sensitive and potentially upsetting information.
Audio Typing of clinical correspondence.
Taking clear and concise messages and directing to the relevant team/individual for action.
To provide support to junior members of the secretarial team as appropriate.
To organise their workload in accordance with consultant and their team, and co-ordinate activities in accordance with other medical secretaries to ensure efficiency of service within the organisation.
Exercise initiative and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Cover other medical secretaries' posts when applicable due to staff shortage/sickness/annual leave.
To actively participate in the 18 Week Referral to Treatment target.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire.
Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Typing, Audio and Word/Text Processing skills to RSA II or equivalent.
GCSE English Language Grade C or equivalent.
Desirable 4 GCSE C or equivalent Business Admin NVQ II or equivalent Audio skills to RSA II standard or equivalent Knowledge of System 1 Previous Experience Essential Previous experience in office environment Knowledge of medical terminology Desirable NHS experience Knowledge, skills, aptitudes Essential Complete tasks accurately and efficiently Work on own initiative, prioritise work to achieve deadlines Good written/verbal communication skills Competent Microsoft Word User Awareness and Knowledge of the dignity in care agenda.
Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework Desirable Ability to operate office equipment, Fax, Photocopier Specific Requirements Essential Conscientious in standard of work produced Ability to work to tight deadlines and as part of a team.
Clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
