Job summary We are looking to recruit twopart-time medical receptionists on a permanent basis to join the team atGlastonbury Surgery.
The successful candidates will be comfortable interactingwith the public on the telephone and face to face with a professional andfriendly approach.
The busy working environmentand diverse role of a medical receptionist presents an opportunity for someonethat is eager to learn and work effectively as part of a team.

Closing date: 9 December 2024Interview Date: 16 December 2024 Main duties of the job The role of medical receptionist is essential to the smooth running of Glastonbury Surgery.
The role is varied, with face to face and telephone contact with patients and taking on administrative responsibilities that support the delivery of safe and effective care.

We work from purpose-built premises that has been recently extended, in a colourful market town offering semi-rural primary care.The practice is very successful and has a good reputation amongst the GP community both externally and internally as evidenced by strong staff retention.We care for a registered population size of 14,000 served by 11 GPs, GP Registrars, Nurse Practitioners and a paramedic, a team of Practice Nurses and HCAs, physiotherapists, administrative, secretarial and reception.Caring for the population of Glastonbury, Street and the surrounding villages offers a unique opportunity to connect with a diverse population that is passionate for the town and its rich history and culture.

Job description Job responsibilities Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesReception desk - greet patients and respond to all enquiriesAppointment management - book patients and respond to requests for appointments from cliniciansManagement of medical recordsPreparation of consulting roomsOperating the telephone systemPractice opening & closing procedureAdministration of forms and documentationAll responsibilities are shared across the team on a rota basis.
Person Specification Personal Qualities Essential Professional communication skills Ability to communicate effectively via telephone and in person Good interpersonal skills Demonstrates motivation, reliability and commitment to team working Can work accurately and calmly under pressure Can work within clearly defined guidelines and protocols Demonstrate a flexible approach to work including increasing working hours to provide cover during annual leave/sickness when able.
The ability to respond positively to changes Demonstrates an ability to value the opinions of others Willingness to undergo education/ training for both practice and service needs Common sense and ability to use own judgement Experience Essential Basic understanding of the needs of the patient and the role of the Receptionist.
Desirable Previous work within a busy office environment.
Experience working with the general public or in a GP practice.
Qualifications Essential Good literacy and numeracy skills Basic computer experience Desirable GCSE grade 4 or above in English & Maths
