Medical Laboratory Assistant - Lincoln

Job summary An opportunity has arisen in the Cellular Pathology department based at Lincoln County Hospital for a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA).We are looking for an enthusiastic committed individual to join our team to support the delivery of tissue diagnostics for both Lincolnshire NHS Trusts.
Main duties of the job As an MLA you will be an integral part of the laboratory team, the main duties include specimen reception and data entry, sample processing, microtomy, equipment maintenance, slide filing, as well as other general laboratory tasks.
Full training will be provided by the laboratory in these duties, some of which require a high degree of manual dexterity and attention to detail.
The laboratory operates between 08:00 and 17:30 and staff take part in a rota within these hours.
Saturday and Sunday working will be required on a rotational basis when necessary competencies have been achieved.Candidates must have good numeracy and literacy skills (ideally GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English), be confident in the use of information technology (IT) and other complex equipment and be able to communicate with a range of healthcare professionalsPrevious experience of working within a process and having to adhere to tight guidelines and standard operating procedures would be an advantage.Path Links is committed to continuous improvement and full engagement is expected.An informal visit to the department is strongly encouraged.

Person Specification Education and Qualifications Desirable GCSE or O-level equivalent in 3 subjects, including science and Basic IT skills Occupational Experience Desirable Experience of the NHS or a laboratory environment.
