Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Annual Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 Location: Prudhoe Job Type: Full-time, Permanent We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in pneumatics to join our client's team.
This role involves assisting the engineering manager in overseeing the engineering department, optimising factory operations, resolving breakdowns, maintaining schedules, and driving improvements across the site including new machinery, hygiene, quality, and performance.
Day-to-day of the role: Responsible for all reactive and proactive maintenance, ensuring it is carried out to the highest standards across the site.
Liaise with management regarding ongoing and required works.
Manage maintenance work orders from all departments, ensuring timely completion to regulation standards.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance within the factory.
Respond promptly to maintenance calls from all departments.
Prioritise maintenance issues and delegate tasks as necessary.
Attend to plant and machinery breakdowns when required.
Conduct tests, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on various types of equipment.
Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on schedule, adopting a proactive approach to maintenance.
Drive improvements in plant uptime and maintenance KPIs through planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
Implement machinery and site improvement works.
Effectively manage time to ensure minimal engineering downtime.
Monitor equipment performance and take corrective actions as needed, escalating issues when necessary.
Engage in PUWER and risk assessments and monitor spares stock.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a regulated environment, working to GMP standards.
Recognised Electrical/Mechanical qualifications to NVQ Level 3 or higher (HNC/HND); IOSH, IPAF desirable.
16th/18th edition certification is desirable.
Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, efficiency, and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently with discipline and initiative.
Proficient in understanding electrical and mechanical drawings/manuals.
Experience with three-phase motor drives and other production equipment.
PLC fault-finding experience is desirable but not essential.
Knowledge of zoned areas would be advantageous.
