Brief Description Our dynamic Locking Fitter team operates nationally across the rail network, undertaking the maintenance and renewals of mechanical and electrical signal points and mechanisms, some of which are in remote and difficult to access locations.
This is an important job that ensures the safe and effective running of the railway.
You will be leading and directing the Locking Fitter team on behalf of the territory, spearheading the delivery of safe and effective maintenance and renewals of all locking assets.About the role (External)Key Accountabilities What will you be doing?
1.Leading and directing the Locking Fitter team in the safe delivery of aspects such as: assessments, maintenance, inspections, renewals, repairs, overhauling, testing and commissioning of mechanical and electrical locking systems.
You will ensure compliance with our safety, quality and environmental standards and look after other signalling assets as and when required.
2.Providing planning resources and support for all mechanical and electrical locking maintenance that is carried out, including complimentary work in collaboration with Maintenance Delivery Unit Managers (MDUMs).
3.Conducting audits of your team, resources, and assets, to assess compliance with our company and group standards.
4.Assisting the Area Signal Engineer in the compilation of territory, area and complimentary works budgets in your sphere of responsibility.
This will include managing the delivery of a budget when approved.
5.Developing and implementing a dated and resourced mechanical and electrical locking overhaul and renewal plan, prioritising assets on a safe and useful life basis.
You will review relevant plans and reports in a timely fashion.
6.Providing a rapid response service to any locking faults and equipment failure that has been identified by MDUMs.
7.Creating and maintaining minor stocking points to store items required for maintenance.
8.Training and supporting your team in the testing, renewing and modifying of competencies related to mechanical and electrical locking equipment as and when required.
9.Leading the process for workplace assessments in accordance with the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) licensing scheme, company and group standards.
You will identify training needs and provide close support for those that require it.
Job Skills, Experience & QualificationsEssential·Relevant railway signalling experience.·Relevant railway experience in a supervisory capacity.·Experience in Signal Maintenance Testing including locking elements.·A1 Workplace Assessment.·Good working knowledge of a variety of level frame types and the different forms of mechanical locking in use.Desirable·Six Sigma Yellow Belt qualification or equivalent.
·IRSE Licenses in the following categories: 1.2 115 , 1.4 110, 1.4 120, 1.4 130.·Signal works testing experience or relevant equivalent experience.·Relevant mechanical and electrical locking or S&T experience.
