Recircle is a UK-based developer and supplier of industrial rubber waste recovery and recycling technology.
Recircle's main technology lines encompass systems for recovering uncured tyre manufacturing waste and biotechnology for recycling end of life rubber waste into virgin identical raw materials for new rubber products.
Job Title : Mechanical Design Enginee r Recircle is currently expanding its Engineering Projects team and is searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our company.
The primary function in this role will be to develop efficient solutions for our uncured rubber waste processing technology, ranging from small component designs to extremely large plants and machinery.
The role encompasses all aspects from concept ideation through to operational validation, and you will work on all stages of our technologies, from research and development, design and manufacture, through to installation, commissioning, and performance analysis to support future design improvements.
This will include delivering a comprehensive suite of services ensuring we are a key provider to our clients throughout their assets' journeys – through concept, design, execution, construction/installation, operation, decommissioning.
The successful candidate will drive mechanical design engineering excellence within Recircle's cross-functional engineering team, while also collaborating with prestigious academic and leading industrial partners on our advanced technology developments.
The role will primarily be located at Recircle's Research and Technology centre in Daresbury and may involve travel to other Recircle, partner or customer manufacturing sites on occasio n. Reports t o: Head of Engineer ing Responsible f or: The design and development of mechanical engineering elements of Recircle's technolog ies.
Main responsibili ties: Contribute to the development of new products or improvements to existing ones.Create detailed designs, and drawings of components or systems and analyse their performance using engineering princ iples.Develop fully detailed CAD engineering drawings and models, complete all necessary simulations, select appropriate materials and provide details for BOM's where req uired.Develop and conduct tests to validate designs and proto types.Analyse test results and make necessary adjustments to improve product perfor mance.Work with subcontractors to deliver equipment designs to specification and delivery sche dules.Work with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient and effective production processes.
Address issues related to materials, processes, and quality co ntrol.Manage projects from conception to completion, including data analysis, design, specification, planning, budgeting, and coordination of resources.
Ensure projects meet deadlines and quality stan dards.Work on dynamic systems, applying principles of dynamics and control theory to design systems that operate efficiently and s afely.Troubleshoot and solve engineering problems that arise during the design, manufacturing, or testing p hases.Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, materials and other advancements in the field.Engage in professional development opportunities and learning to enhance skills and know ledge.Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including other engineers, designers, and professionals from different departments, to achieve project goals.
Key Expe rience: Experience with design drawings, drawing specifications, machining, fabrication, and production p rocessesDemonstratable practical experience in troubleshooting and finding solutions to complex engineering problems in real-world sc enarios.Experience in the design of processes, test prototypes, conducting experiments, and analysing results.
This could include stress testing, material analysis, or performance testing.Practical experience in the application of engineering concepts, gained through internships, co-op programs, or personal p rojects.Involvement in project management activities, such as planning, scheduling, and budgeting, showcases organizational and leadership skills.
Managing projects from conception of design to com pletion.Understanding of industry-specific challenges, regulations, and standards in relevant ind ustries.Obtaining relevant certifications, such as Professional Engineer (PE) l icensureExperience in effectively communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, including writing reports, creating presentations, and collaborating with cross-functiona l teams.Experience with fluid management systems or wastewater treatment is highly valued and would be a distinct advantage for th is role.
Key Qualif ications: A bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a relat ed field .Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for designing and modelling mechanical components an d s y stems.The ability to analyse complex problems, perform calculations, and apply engineering principles to find innovative and effective solutions.Understanding of manufacturing processes and methods, including machining, fabrication, and assembly.Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges in the design, manufacturing, or operational phases of a project.Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with and convey technical information to team members, clients, and sta keholders.Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, collaborating with professionals from various disciplines to achieve proj ect goals.Understanding of project management principles, including planning, organization, and resource m anagement.Precision and attention to detail in design, analysis, and documentation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of enginee ring work.Capacity to think creatively and propose innovative solutions to engineering c hallenges.Ability to adapt to new technologies, tools, and methodologies as the field of mechanical engineerin g evolves.Awareness of relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols applicable to specific engineering projects.Relevant certifications, such as Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
