Job summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our well established team of Matrons within the Division of Medicine, Diagnostics and Clinical Support Services.
You will support the speciality teams in the delivery of excellent, compassionate care whilst maintaining high professional standards.
The Matron role is pivotal in leading teams and supporting quality, safety and patient experience, the portfolio may include some of the following specialities haematology, outpatients, dermatology, palliative care and diagnostic imaging subject to service need.
Both full time and part time working hours are available.
Candidates must be a registered nurse with current NMC registration and have experience in an acute hospital setting.

Job description Job responsibilities The post holder will provide clinical, managerial and professional leadership to nursing staff at all levels within their area of responsibility ensuring that patient care is delivered to a high standard.
The post holder will be responsible for the on-going safe and effective delivery for their designated portfolio to ensure the attainment of quality and clinical performance indicators concerned with nursing and midwifery practice and the wider context of patient care delivery.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Lead Nurse and Deputy Lead Nurse to ensure all relevant nursing and midwifery measures/indicators are robustly monitored and effective governance arrangements are in place to ensure that patients consistently receive a good experience that meets all relevant aspects of the CQC key Lines of Enquiry.
The post holder will be responsible for leading on service and professional developments, working in close liaison with Lead Nurse and Deputy Lead Nurse to ensure all developments are considered and contribute to the wider aims of the Trusts 5 Year Strategy and the underpinning suite of strategies.
Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential RN First degree or relevant experience Evidence of on-going CPD at relevant level Management Diploma or equivalent experience Leadership qualification or equivalent level of experience Desirable Master's Degree or working towards Experience Essential Extensive post registration experience including proven track record of senior operational/service management experience in the NHS in relation to acute in-patient/out-patient services Experience of managing staff Positive experience of change management within an acute in-patient/out-patient setting.
Experience of working with a range of IT systems Desirable Experience of business planning and preparation of business cases Skills Essential Good understanding and knowledge of NHS Performance Targets, CQC fundamentals of care Developed decision making skills, both clinically and operationally based Positive problem solving approach Aware of broader issues in relation to areas of responsibility, both nationally and corporately and can relate these to clinical areas Able to both participate in and lead multidisciplinary teams Strong negotiating skills Personal Qualities:- able to lead through empowerment, ability to build relationships, ability to lead, address and participate in professional and public forums, calm and confident manner, motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to motivate others and a positive challenging aptitude
