Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Women's Health Division of Warrington and Halton Hospital NHS Trust on Maternity Triage and The Nest.
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and flexible support workers to join our team.As a Maternity Support Worker working in both Maternity Triage and our midwife-led unit, The Nest, you will be supporting midwives who are assessing, implementing and evaluating care throughout antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.You will be required to possess an NVQ Level 3 in care and demonstrate excellent communication and caring skills to ensure our women and babies receive the highest quality of care.

Main duties of the job Maternity Support Workers (MSW's) must work within their sphere of responsibility.
All clinical skills should be undertaken as delegated by and reported back to a qualified member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Any MSW to whom a task has been delegated should be appropriately trained and supported to ensure that the activity can be undertaken competently.
The registered practitioner is accountable for delegating the task and the MSW is accountable for accepting the delegated task.The post holder will carry out assigned tasks involving direct care in support and supervised by a registered midwife.
This may involve care at any stage during pregnancy, the intrapartum, and the postnatal period within the hospital setting.

Job description Job responsibilities Maternity Support Workers (MSWs) are members of the team, working under the supervision and guidance of registered midwives and other professional staff.
Working in collaboration with all members of the team; MSWs assist in the planning, implementation, evaluation and delivery of care, by providing support to registered staff, women and their families.
This will be achieved through the performance of specific care tasks, carried out after the successful programme of formal training and assessment.

Desirable Previous care experience within a maternity care setting.
Qualifications Essential Literate and numerate - Basic Skills Maths and English Level 1 (GCSE A-G) or a Level 1 pass in the LTHT designated literacy and numeracy assessment NVQ 3 in Health and Social care, Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support, or equivalent health care related qualifications- Equivalent experience relates to a maternity related Band 2 post with an obligation to complete the relevant qualification within the first 12 months of employment.
Desirable Evidence of/willing to undertake training relevant to the post.
Skills, Knowledge and Competancies Essential Understanding of Care Certificate standards Understanding of the boundaries of the MSW role and responsibility (at interview) Able to present factual information to individuals and groups and refer questions to others where appropriate.
Desirable Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, NMC and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Understanding of the benefits/ importance of breastfeeding within the context of maternity care and the wider public health agenda
