Our Bury MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub) sits within the Early Help Service and we are expanding its remit to ensure that we have a reach out to both families and to partners to support early identification of need and to offer help sooner.
As part of these developments, we are looking for a Lead Officer for Education to join our fast-paced MASH team.
You will support our team of social workers and early help workers to identify the right level of service and support for children and their families; gather information to inform timely decision making; and will build strong relationships with schools and education provisions to provide advice and guidance around actions and statutory duties that make a positive difference to children and keep them safe.
We are looking for an experienced practitioner who has a strong understanding of safeguarding within an education context, who can support schools to ensure their work is effective in safeguarding children and provide guidance and advice to schools and MASH colleagues.
MASH is based at Knowsley Place opposite the Town Hall in Bury, you will be part of a dynamic multi agency team which works together to identify the best outcomes for children.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week.
Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.

We are looking for candidates with substantive previous experience of working with children and their families in a statutory social care and/or school environment.
You will need to have good knowledge of legislation and professional practice and will have the opportunity to work with children and families alongside management responsibilities, such as, chairing meetings and supervising and supporting social workers.
