Our mission is to engage the public with the creativity and craft of the artform.
We do this through developing new work, supporting artists to create thought provoking projects, engaging with audiences across digital and physical contexts, and promoting critical debate.
What you will learn In this internship you will learn about the development, production and delivery of art projects and specifically independent, artists' animation productions.
You will gain a greater understanding of the distribution networks for short film and animation, practical experience in using marketing tools to promote professional work and build audiences, and the opportunity to learn about the process of producing short animation first-hand.
There may be opportunity to attend live events.
Responsibilities You will provide support to the producers with project administration and with the marketing and distribution of projects.
Projects you will be involved with include our Arts Council England supported MORTAL commissions for early career artists, our Accelerate Sessions online webinars, Maryam Mohajer's BFI backed film And Granny Would Dance, and Qianhui Yu's BFI NETWORK supported short Statue in the Garden.
The role includes: Managing film festival distribution, maintaining spreadsheets, using online submission platforms, liaising with festival contacts Promotion of festival screenings and other news on social media Observing meetings, note taking, and liaising with artists and crew members Assisting with online and live events Undertaking desk research Attending meetings and events and undertaking travel if required Other admin tasks such as booking travel, organising meetings.
Knowledge, skills and experience We are looking for someone who has: A keen interest in independent animation and short film A desire to work in production, marketing or administration Confidence with using Excel spreadsheets and Google Sheets, Word documents, and email Experience with posting to social media platforms First-rate notetaking skills Strong communication and organisation skills Excellent attention to detail Self-motivation, confidence in using their initiative, and able to take responsibility for their work Their own home office set up.
The remote internship is for two days a week for around three months to end the of March 2025, with the possibility of extending to up to 6 months.
Please note: our office is closed from 25 December 2024 to 1 January 2025.
The salary is £13.15 per hour for a 7 hour day (with an unpaid lunch break hour).
Additional expenses will be paid for travel to events or meetings as required.
