Job Description A member of a dedicated team to primarily undertake the installation of communications equipment on MoD platforms and to provide assistance with all other support contracts within the company.
A flexible approach to work is essential due to work undertaken being carried out over many sites in the United Kingdom and at times other countries.
Responsibilities To inform the Installation Manager of any impairments that may effect the overall completion date of an installation, and to raise relevant handover documentation for presentation to Installation Inspecting Officer's To assist in the planning of stores and additional consumable requirements for future installations and support contracts Maintain a flexible approach to work Order and replenish stock, and update local records Onsite / in-field troubleshooting and replacement of faulty units across a wide variety of systems In this role you will focus on Skills required by the Maritime Installation Technician are to include the installation and termination of RF, fibre optics, data cables and electrical cables.
To understand and maintain a ship's watertight, gastight and smoke integrity on all tasks including the correct assembly of the appropriate glands To understand and implement current MOD screening/earthing policies, including screened RF glands, screened trunking (including conduit); and the correct earthing arrangements for equipment racks in accordance with DEFSTAN's.
Ensure that all electrical connections to equipment and racks that are made via an electrical feeder plug and socket are PAT tested and annotated Fibre optical cable testing Mechanical integrity: safe installation of infrastructure To understand and apply protective coatings, (paint), in accordance with current DEFSTANs Ability to work at height (training will be provided) Be prepared to work in confined spaces General Interpret engineering drawings Conduct all works in a safe and professional manner Drive company vehicles (vans and cars) within the constraints of current motoring law Maintain awareness of ISO9001 standards and company operating procedures Ensure your own health and safety and that of others in the vicinity Work together for the mutual benefit of the company and each other Provide support to the production department as required Provide support for other projects within the business PAT testing (can be trained on site) First aid trained (can be trained locally) Be prepared to spend time away from home and work weekends We are looking for a committed and professional individual with Electrical /electronic engineering NVQ level 2/3 or above desirable.
Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project applications.
Full UK driving licence Experience of RN platforms desirable Experience in RN and RFA communications desirable Able to travel in the UK and overseas.
