Job summary To carry out planned maintenance, acceptance testing of new equipment, service and repair on a wide range of manual handling equipment both in workshop and on-site environments.
To offer advice, instructions and information to clinical and non-clinical staff on the use, maintenance, repair, evaluation, and procurement of new and existing manual handling equipment.
To work in partnership with the Department Leads to ensure all pre-hospital manual handling devices are repaired and maintained under strict Trust Policies and Procedures.
Repair/maintain/install mechanical pre-hospital medical devices, including Carry Chairs, Wheelchairs, Scoop Stretchers, and Cot Stretchers and their fittings.
Maintain equipment inventory and service/maintenance records.
Main duties of the job Organise, coordinate and undertake maintenance to specified schedule Advanced fault finding on manual handling devices.
Apply suitable fault-finding techniques to diagnose problems including those beyond the scope of manufacturers' supplied information Provide, receive, and analyse complex information in relation to manual handling devices Attend Trust sites/vehicles on a regular basis as well as workshop activity to perform device maintenance and repair.
This may involve the movement of heavy items of medical equipment Liaise with equipment suppliers on issues relating to equipment maintenance/safety, relaying complex technical information Liaise with equipment users and staff on issues relating to the maintenance and operational safety of equipment, translating technical language into everyday language, and understanding clinical terminology relating to equipment usage Deliver equipment technical training to users and/or Make Ready Staff Commission, calibrate, update, maintain, repair, and decommission medical devices/test equipment without direct supervision Accurately record all work carried out, materials used, and any other details required by Management, in support of the Trust's Equipment Management System Assist in the implementation the Trust's Equipment Replacement Plan Ensure a sufficient stock of spares and accessories within your remit are adhered to Be aware of the cost implications associated with the servicing and repair of manual handling devices About us You'll have the opportunity to work in one of the most diverse regions in the country, with the vibrant capital city just a stone's throw away and the invigorating North Sea coast to the east.

Person Specification Experience Essential Significant experience of mechanical pre-hospital medical device maintenance.
Able to analyse and resolve problems speedily and effectively.
Desirable Knowledge of medical device support including preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection repair, calibration, quality control, safety, and acceptance testing.
Experience Essential Managed multiple tasks and prioritised workload to match objectives.
Ability to develop effective working relationships, and demonstrate professional credibility with colleagues at all levels.
Desirable Experience of practical problem solving, and solving complex medical device problems.
Analysis and interpretation of engineering test results.
Qualifications Essential 5 GCSEs Minimum Level C or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through courses and experience.
Full British Driving Licence, Category B for at least two years.
