As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in delivering first-line engineering support for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical and electrical plant, systems, vessels, and equipment used and managed by Belfast Harbour.
This role extends to the operation of plant, including the Harbour crane fleet, and supports the servicing of front-line operations.

You will also play a crucial role in maintaining and improving the infrastructure that keeps our port running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities Interpret and follow technical instructions, demonstrating a deep understanding of maintenance management and planning processes.
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance programs to ensure compliance with defined requirements.
Carry out inspections and repairs on port plant equipment, including cranes, machinery, safety equipment, navigation lights, floating plant, vessels, electricity supplies, substations, street lighting, water supplies, pumping stations, and other mechanical and electrical installations or assets within the Harbour Estate.
Work independently and demonstrate strong initiative, while maintaining accurate records of technical and operational data for reporting purposes.
Utilize the Maximo EAM system to update technical registers and ensure data quality meets business requirements.
Embrace and ensure compliance with company and departmental policies, adhering to maintenance standards and asset management strategies.
Collaborate with the Engineering Shift Lead to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, Port Occupational Health Policies, BHC Safety Management System, departmental safety plans, and other safety regulations.
Support risk assessments applicable to maintenance and inspection activities, contributing to ongoing development and adherence to safety protocols.
Maintain effective working relationships with other BHC departments, external contractors, equipment suppliers, and providers of specialist maintenance services.
Actively contribute to the development of new approaches and engineering innovation, supporting the wider team with the introduction of new port technology.
Liaise with stevedores or other port customers as necessary, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Essential Criteria: Recognised apprenticeship in an engineering discipline or relevant qualification e.g., ONC, HND.
One Year of experience (post apprenticeship) in electrical and mechanical maintenance and repair.
Computer literacy with the ability to record technical and operational data for report writing.
Full UK Driving License for a manual car.
Desirable Criteria: Experience in a port maintenance environment or similar industry.
Proficiency in working with hydraulic systems and wire ropes.
Knowledge of fault finding on PLC-controlled equipment.
Working knowledge of crane operation and associated plant.
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
