Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Location: Swindon Schools Hours: Temp to Perm - 37.5 hours per week or as required to fulfil the role Salary: £16 - £20 per hour Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a team in Swindon schools.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and keeping in good repair the campus buildings' electrical and mechanical systems, along with all associated component parts.
This role requires a proactive approach to ensure the safety and functionality of the school facilities.
Key Responsibilities: * Building Fabric Repairs: Perform routine and emergency repairs to the building fabric, ensuring the integrity and safety of the school premises.
* Minor Electrical Work: Carry out minor electrical repairs and installations, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
* Minor Plumbing Work: Address minor plumbing issues, including repairs and maintenance of fixtures and fittings.
* Minor Carpentry Work: Undertake minor carpentry tasks to maintain and improve the school facilities.
* Air Handling System Maintenance: Maintain and repair air handling systems to ensure optimal performance and air quality.
* Safety Checks: Complete all regular safety checks, including fire door checks, emergency light testing, fire extinguisher and fire blanket checks, and communal lighting checks.
* Supervision of Contractors: Supervise contractors to ensure they follow safe systems of work and comply with school policies and regulations.
* Preventative Planned Maintenance: Conduct preventative planned maintenance checks to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
* Building Audits: Undertake building audits to assess the condition of the facilities and recommend necessary improvements.
Qualifications and Skills: * Proven experience in a maintenance role, preferably within an educational setting.
* Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
* Ability to perform routine and emergency repairs efficiently.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
