University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation TrustWe seek an expert nurse with strong clinical, communication and leadership abilities to join the Lymphoma Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team.
The team includes 6 CNS and a support worker and sits within a wider team of haematology and BMT clinical nurse specialists and their respective MDTs.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an already experienced CNS looking for a new challenge or a band 6 nurse looking to develop new skills and knowledge within a supportive experienced team.
This is a fixed term post for 12 months to cover maternity leave starting from 01.06.2025.
We are advertising early to ensure no break in cover.
We plan to interview for this post on 04.02.2025.
Main duties of the jobThe CNS is an advanced practitioner who is usually the first point of contact for patients on complex treatment pathways.
They counsel patients with a new diagnosis or at disease progression, explaining treatment options, assessing information needs and suitability for therapies.
They run existing nurse clinics and attend multi professional clinics.
They plan and schedule treatments, troubleshoot issues and remain an important source of continuity and support to patients through their cancer treatment and beyond.
A significant part of the workload is by telephone, assessing patients who are often unwell and intervening to prevent deterioration and hospital admission.
An important part of the role is communication with the MDT, shared and primary care.
The CNS delivers level 2 psychological support and assesses holistic needs.
They are a specialist educational resource and aid the professional development of junior nurses in the department.

Job responsibilitiesFor the full Person Specification and more information regarding the main responsibilities of this role, please refer to the attached Job Description. Offering crucial support to the team are Macmillan Cancer Support Workers, PAs, data managers and MDT co-ordinators.
There is a dedicated haematology telephone line for patients to call for all queries, which is run by a team of administrators and protects the CNS from excessive administrative work.
The haematology CNS team is part of the cancer nursing service at UCLH and we are fortunate to be able to support university based and in house educational pathways.
We have a regular cancer community of practice forum for clinical nurse specialist staff.

£54,320 to £60,981 a year Per annum inclusive of HCAS
