Locum Consultant Psychiatrist (Portfolio Pathway/Cesr) Rehab&Recovery

The Team in Swansea is looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to fill this permanent post based at Cefn Coed Hospital working in male high dependency rehabilitation/recovery inpatient units for treatment of patients with serious mental illnesses.
This post is designed for doctors working toward their Portfolio Pathway (CESR) application. It is a Health Boardrole aiming to deliver career training and development to doctors in a clear structure with educational support. This post is to commence as soon as possible on a fixed term basis - length of contract to be discussed and confirmed at interview depending on the requirements for the individual appointed.
You will be allocated a Consultant who has personally completed the Portfolio Pathway (CESR) process as an educational and clinical supervisor to guide you through the process and help you with your portfolio. Your training will aim to mirror that delivered by a higher specialty training programme and utilize portfolio evidence in the same way.
Main duties of the jobWorking with consultant colleagues and the multi-professional team you will have continuing responsibility for the well-being of all patients under your care; allowing for proper delegation to, and training of staff. In partnership with clinical and managerial colleagues you will also have responsibility for the safe, efficient and effective functioning of the services in which you work.
You will be expected to make a significant contribution to the service and directorate planning process through active participation in the clinical directorate structure.
You will participate in the 1 in 20 on call consultant rota across the Swansea Bay UHB area, with prospective cover. In exceptional circumstances it may also be necessary to undertake duties at other locations with the Health Board. Travelling as necessary between sites.
Accepting this role will see you joining a very experienced Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) working at the heart of practice within the unit working to enable the provision of effective, comprehensive care. The MDT work with the patients to ensure that individuals experience a seamless and co-ordinated approach to their care.

Job responsibilitiesThis post will cover Gwelfor; an eighteen bed male high dependency rehabilitation/recovery unit for treatment of patients with serious mental illnesses and the Step-Down Houses; a community rehabilitation unit which is comprised of two houses (Ty Gwanwyn and Carreg Sarn) a variation of staffed and floating support.
This is a replacement post joining a Speciality Doctor with the support of a Multidisciplinary Team inclusive of Occupational Therapy and Psychology. There are also opportunities for a CT3 psychiatry trainee to work alongside the clinical team. There is a General Practitioner who covers Gwelfor and Stepdown for one day week to see to the patients medical care.
The medical team working on Gwelfor/step down work in partnership with a wider rehabilitation team including low secure services based at Taith Newydd (Glanrhyd Hospital, Bridgend) and a community Adult Forensic Community Team.
