Job summary This is a 12 month fixed term appointment for UHDB Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at Derbyshire Children's Hospital at the Royal Derby Hospital.Although other services are provided across all the Trust sites including the Queens Hospital Burton site and peripheral clinics at Ripley, Ilkeston, Lichfield and Tamworth.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Paediatrician to join our flexible team and compliment the range of services provided.
Any applicant who wishes to work less than 10PA's will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed; modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Paediatric Clinical Director and Assistant Clinical Director for the General paediatrics in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Main duties of the job Provision of a comprehensiveGeneral Paediatric service to UHDB NHS Foundation Trust & surrounding areas, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis & treatment of illness, & the proper functioning of the department Responsibility for the continuing care & treatment of patients in your charge & personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan, allowing for all proper delegation to, & training of your staff Provision of an out of hours service with your colleagues including participation in the Consultant 1 in 8 General Paediatric on-call rota (Non Resident Rota).

Person Specification Qualifications / Specialist Listings Essential MBBS/MBChB or equivalent Full GMC Registration with a License to practice at time of application APLS provider Training in Child Protection/ Safeguarding (Min Level 3) Paediatric Epilepsy and / or neurodisability experience Desirable APLS/ instructor Paediatric neurology experience Have CCT or within 6 months of attaining CCT at time of interview or entry onto GMC Specialist Register by time of interview Clinical Experience Essential Good standard of clinical skill & expertise in General Paediatrics Comprehensive technical competence in paediatrics Experience in making clinical decisions and ability to prioritise clinical need.
Evidence of ability to work effectively as part of a multi disciplinary team & share clinical responsibilities Management & Administrative Experience Essential Evidence of active participation in audit.
Demonstrates clear understanding of current priorities in General Paediatrics Teaching Experience Essential Experience of teaching undergraduates.
Desirable Qualification in medical education Research Experience Desirable Publications in peer-reviewed journals
