Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation TrustThis is an opportunity to join the well-established, progressive department of Ophthalmology at HHFT. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated, dynamic team, responsible for the management and treatment of Ophthalmology patients.
The successful candidate will work in partnership with a forward-looking and enthusiastic Ophthalmology department. At one site alone, the Ophthalmology department saw over 25,000 outpatient attendances in 2018/19 and nearly 5,000 inpatient and day case operations. Each of our existing consultants has a strong general Ophthalmology background with sub-specialty interests in medical retina, glaucoma, uveitis, anterior segment, oculoplastic, and paediatric ophthalmology, and strabismus.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for:
Someone with a subspecialist interest in medical retinaAn enthusiastic and friendly clinicianExperience in general ophthalmology as well as developed medical retina subspecialist skillsAn individual who shares our passion for improving the quality of Ophthalmology servicesWillingness to work in a multidisciplinary team and develop our service and juniorsJob responsibilitiesFor further information about this role please see the Job Description document attached.
Person SpecificationTraining and qualificationsoFRCOphth or equivalentFull registration with the GMCOn GMC Specialist register or within six months of CCT at time of interviewFellowship level training in medical retinaExperience & KnowledgeExperience in cataract surgeryExperience in all aspects of OphthalmologyTraining and experience in subspecialty areaCompleted a full training programExperience of and participation in clinical auditExperience of risk managementSkills & AbilityGood written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and all levels of staffTeaching/presentation skillsManagement skills or qualificationEducational QualificationDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
