Job summary An opportunity has arisen for a part-time, fixed-term Post for a consultant on thespecialist register for intensive care medicine to help coverage of ashort-term vacancy.
Main duties of the job This Post is a fixed-term, intensive care medicine only Post attracting PA per week.
Approximately half of the DCCcommitment is out-of-hours provision.The Post will be based at both South Tyneside and Sunderland Hospitals,although predominately the former.

Job description Job responsibilities To work under the direction of the Clinical Director(s) and clinical co-director to co-ordinate and deliver the strategic and operational aspects of critical care services and those of another specialty (anaesthesia, emergency or acute medicine) to the population served by the Trust.
These will reflect National and Local priorities including the strategic direction of South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS FT.You are expected to be on the GMC Specialist Register for Intensive Care Medicine at the time of Appointment.Consultant performance is monitored within the Directorate and strong emphasis is given to personal career development, in-line with clinical governance.

Person Specification Skills Essential Excellent interpersonal skills and able to demonstrate a desire and ability to work within a team.
Skilled in the resuscitation and stabilisation of children (neonate+).
Desirable Additional clinical skills to those required for a CCT in intensive care medicine.
Qualifications Essential On the GMC specialist register for intensive care medicine.
Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
FFICM by examination or another post-graduate examination in intensive care medicine.
Experience Essential Experience of working within the UK NHS in the specialty of intensive care medicine.
Desirable Consultant experience in intensive care medicine.
Evidence of involvement in governance activity production of clinical guidelines.
Other Desirable Ability to demonstrate an interest in education, quality improvement, research or other non-clinical activity of relevance to the Post.
