It is a 10 PA locum appointment for aConsultant Paediatric Anaesthetist.
Thispost will be offered with a six-month contract.Thispost will deliver 10 PAs supporting the paediatric anaesthetic team at theLeeds Childrens hospital (LGI site) in Leeds.Thesuccessful applicant should hold accreditation in the FRCA in the Royal Collegeof Anaesthetics or equivalent, and should be on the Specialist Register, orwithin six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currentlyin a training programme within the UK or have references which have beenauthorised by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.Applicantsshould have established skills in paediatric anaesthesia and have undertaken atleast 12 months advanced training in this area.Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment toteaching and service development are essential.

Main duties of the job Towork with other consultant colleagues in the provision of a comprehensiveAnaesthetic service in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
Todevelop and/or consolidate expertise in Paediatric Anaesthesia.

Tosupport service plans for the specialty, taking account of the changes inclinical practice and new technologies available.

Clinical AuditTheappointee will be expected to contribute and, where appropriate, take the leadin the followingMortality and morbidity meetingsClinical audit programmesDevelopment and application of agreedclinical guidelines.Thisis to be included in allocated time in the individuals job plan as a supportingprogrammed activity.
It would beexpected that the time allocated for this would include attendance at therelevant departmental audit meetings and that such attendance would be recordedin accordance with the Trusts clinical audit policy.Inthe discharge of these responsibilities the candidate will be expected tomaintain and update his/her skills and knowledge through appropriate continuingmedical education.4.

Proposed Job PlanThepost consists of 10 PAs with PAs of direct clinical care DCC and PA ofsupporting professional activity SPA.
These 10 PAs will be delivered in anaesthesia.Thisjob plan will fit together with colleagues jobplans with a careful rota ofclinical sessions, to ensure robust cover.
AccountabilityThepostholder is managerially accountable for the use of resources to the ChiefExecutive and professionally accountable to the Chief Medical Officer throughClinical Directors.
This may be amendedin the light of the Trusts management arrangements.
Standards of Conduct and BehaviourHe/shewill be required to work to the standards set out by the General MedicalCouncil in Good Medical Practice.
Thisincludes protecting patients when you believe that a doctors or other colleaguesconduct, performance or health is a threat to them.
