Job summary The Royal United Hospital in the beautiful city of Bath is looking for an Ophthalmologist pending the appointment of a substantive post.
We are a friendly, busy team who would welcome a new colleague.
The department is purpose build and well equipped.
We are looking for someone who can work independently, is ready to learn how our department works but will be supported by an experienced team of colleagues.
We are looking for a colleague with a special interest in glaucoma , although other special interests to complement the department would be considered.
Applicants must be registered with the GMC.
Bath is a world heritage site, a wonderful place to live and is a perfect base from to explore the UK and Europe.
The schools are excellent, if you have children, and there are so many opportunities to for outdoor sports, travel and cultural interests.

Main duties of the job Applicants should be experienced Ophthalmologists who are able to work independently with the support of the team around them available as needed.
They should be able to manage patients commensurate with their experience and special interest.
The post holder will be expected to do their share of general ophthalmology along as well as doing clinics in their area of interest.
The post will involve clinical work (face-to-face and virtual) and lasers, along with other general ophthalmology cover required casualty clinic.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential FRCOphth or equivalent.
Completion of or near completion of higher specialist training Full Registration with a licence to practice with the GMC Entry on Specialist Register (or entry expected within six months of interview date) Desirable Higher Degree Experience Essential Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST in ophthalmology Competent to perform high volume cataract surgery Desirable Experience commensurate with Subspecialty training in paediatrics and squint (adults and children) Versatility in all areas of ophthalmic surgery
