The appointee will become a key member of a dedicated and highlyexperienced multi-disciplinary team.
The job is part time fixed term locumcompromising of 6 programmed activities fixed term locum post , withsupervision of the junior doctors and specialist nurses.
There will be anon-call commitment of 1:4.

Main duties of the job The successful applicant should possessMembership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (orequivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a trainingprogramme within the UK.
In accordancewith the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctorsmust be on the Specialist Register.

Job description Job responsibilities OBJECTIVESOF THE POSTThesuccessful candidate would join the other 2 substantive consultants & 2Locum Consultants in the team.
They are expected to work closely with thecurrent multidisciplinary team to sustain current capacity of Allergy &Immunology services with a view to expand in the near future, ensure the smoothflow from diagnosis to treatment & follow up, including developinginnovative ways of working to sustain increasing patient load, contribute tothe Immunology & Allergy on call rota.
Sustain the current capacity of theservice for clinical allergy and immunology work, with a view to expansionfollowing further development of nursing clinics and review of patientthroughout.
Ensure the smooth flow from diagnosisto treatment & follow up.
Support development of Allergy &Immunology Service.
Work closely multidisciplinary team& developing innovative ways of working to sustain increasing patient load.
Contribute to the Allergy &Immunology on call rota (Category B).
Ensure optimal delivery of diagnosticlaboratory support in line with standards from clinical pathology accreditationand in line with the planned developments of the Yorkshire diagnosticlaboratory network.
To allow the continuing developmentof subspecialty interests within the Leeds immunology & allergy service.REQUIREMENTSOF THE POSTGeneralTheTrust expects consultants to deliver clinical service as agreed withcommissioners and other stakeholders.This will include: meeting the objectives of the post(see above), continuously improving the qualityand efficiency of personal and team practice,working with other staff and teams toensure that the various criteria for service delivery are met, such as achieving the best clinical outcomeswithin the resources available, waiting times and infection control standards.Consultants in LTHT are line managed by their specialty Lead Clinician workingin conjunction with a Business/Service Manager.This specialty team is then managed alongside a number of otherspecialties in a Clinical Service (or Support) Unit (CSU) led by a ClinicalDirector as the responsible person and supported by a full time General Managerand a full time Head of Nursing.TheClinical Director and their team report operationally to the Chief OperatingOfficers (COO) team consisting of the Chief Operating Officer, the MedicalDirector for Operations and the Nurse Director for Operations.
In addition, the COO team contains fourassistant directors of operations (ADOps) and a Performance Team.

TeachingTheTrust is a Teaching Hospital and therefore considers the active participationof consultant and other medical staff in teaching and training to be part ofour core activities.
Not all consultantswill have regular and substantial teaching commitments, but all will beinvolved in related activities from time to time, if only through informalopportunities, for example as part of service quality improvement (see above).It is therefore expected that all consultants will be familiar with theprinciples of effective teaching and will enable the service and colleagues tofulfil their obligations to learn and teach about effective care.The remainder of this section concentrates on teachingand training for medical colleagues, but the Trust actively supports andencourages consultant medical staff to participate in and deliver teaching andtraining to any colleagues, within and outside of the Trust, where this isagreed as an appropriate time commitment.
