Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology (ERF) It is expected that the applicant will complement an existing department offering a full gastroenterology service.
Across the trust, the care of gastroenterology inpatients is centralised at the Lister site with consultants currently involved in a 1 in 12 GI bleeding rota which incorporates a 24/7 bleed service and some routine endoscopy at weekends whilst on-call.
The post does not include a regular commitment to the general medical on-call rota but please note the pandemic has meant some involvement in general medical care of patients.

Main Duties of the Job Maintenance of high-quality patient-centred care Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and participation in strategic planning Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity Active participation in continuing medical education Person SpecificationQualifications/Training Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register MRCP or qualification of an equivalent level Previous Experience Broad range of experience in Gastroenterology including Diagnostic and Therapeutic Gastroscopy and Diagnostic and Therapeutic Colonoscopy Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training, and other colleagues Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice Demonstrable experience in a Locum Consultant role Skills Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and learning from errors Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
