Job summary Applicationsare invited to apply for a locum appointment to Consultant Cardiologist,Cardiologist with a focus on General Cardiology.
Applicants with specialistinterests in other elements of the cardiology service will be welcome to apply.Thispost holder will flexibly deliver 7 PAs of General Cardiology outpatient andGeneral/Specialty Cardiology triage, with up to PAs negotiable for otherspecialist interests, if mutually agreed.Thedepartment utilises modern practices of remote A&G, triage, and virtualclinics, as well as traditional face to face models of outpatient care.Thepost will be based at Leeds General Infirmary.
The purpose of this appointmentis to sustain clinical activity and recover backlog following the sudden andunexpected death of a colleague, in advance of more long-term strategicdevelopments to provide this activity.Leeds Teaching Hospitals is one of the largestteaching hospital trusts in Europe, with access to leading clinical expertiseand medical technology.

Main duties of the job Thisappointment will be based at the Leeds General Infirmary, one of the largestand most modern tertiary cardiac centres in the UK, serving a population ofover 3 million.
There are 6 state of the art Cardiac Catheter laboratories,with over 2000 PCIs, including 24/7 primary PCI, over 900 invasiveelectrophysiology/cardiac ablations and in excess of 700 implantable deviceprocedures per annum, making the West Yorkshire Heart Centre one of the highestvolume units in the UK.
The Valve clinic and interventional TAVI service is thelargest in the UK outside of London.

All consultants are based at the LeedsGeneral Infirmary site.
There are 5 consultants working in the Valve team, 6 inthe PCI team, 5 in the Heart Failure team, and 5 in the Imaging team.
There are6 Electrophysiology consultants, two who perform lead extraction, and 6 CardiacSurgeons.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential CCT (or within 6 months of) in Cardiology or equivalent qualification MRCP(UK) or equivalent qualification Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice Eligibility to work in the UK.
Is up to date and fit to practise safely All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues Experience Essential Should have completed a recognised training programme in Cardiology.
Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Cardiology.
Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors Well organised and skilled in good time management Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.
Effective interpersonal skills Desirable Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff
