Job summary This is 10 PA locum appointments for Consultant Anaesthetists.
This post will be available as soon as possible for a period of 6 months.
The posts will deliver 10 PAs supporting the anaesthetic team at the Leeds General Infirmary and St James's University Hospital Leeds.
The successful applicants should hold accreditation in FRCA in the Royal College of Anaesthetists or equivalent and should be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK at the time of interview or have references which have been authorised by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.Applicants should have established skills in anaesthesia, excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Clinical AuditTheappointee will be expected to contribute and, where appropriate, take the leadin the following:Mortality and morbiditymeetings;Clinical auditprogrammes;Development and application of agreedclinical guidelines.Thisis to be included in allocated time in the individuals job plan as asupporting programmed activity.

Theremay be an interim review of the job plan where duties, responsibilities,accountability arrangements or objectives have changed or need to changesignificantly within the area.Proposed Job PlanThe post consists of 10 PAs with PAsof direct clinical care (DCC) and PA of supporting professional activity(SPA).
These 10 PAs will be delivered in anaesthesiaThis job plan will fit together withcolleagues job-plans with a careful rota of clinical sessions, to ensurerobust cover.Accountability The post-holder is manageriallyaccountable for the use of resources to the Chief Executive and professionallyaccountable to the Chief Medical Officer through Clinical Directors.
This may be amended in the light of theTrusts management arrangements.
Person Specification Other Requirements Essential Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: - CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) - CESR (or) - European Community Rights Experience Essential Have completed a recognised training programme in Anaesthesia Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following: Applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English.
OR Achieved the minimum score of 7 across all 4 of the following categories in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
(An overall minimum score of OR Achieved the minimum Grade B across all 4 of the following categories in the Occupational English Test (OET) in medicine in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
Well organised and skilled in good time managements.

Medically fit to fulfil ALL aspects of the post, and to be able to respond quickly to emergencies, as necessary.
Meets professional health requirements (in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice).
Desirable Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
Attendance at recognised management course.
Qualifications Essential FRCA or equivalent qualification.
Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
