The Leeds Comprehensive Care Haemophilia Centre foradults is based in the department and is part of the NW Yorkshire Haemophilianetwork.
The H&T team is a key contributor to a multidisciplinary VTEservice and provides leadership for the Leeds Anticoagulant Service.
There is aproactive combined Haematology Obstetric clinic that is a hub centre in amaternal medicine network and combined Haematology Obstetric clinic.
Candidates with broad interests in Haemostasisand Thrombosis are welcome and it is expected that the successful candidatewill participate in both the bleeding disorders and the Thrombosis service.
Main duties of the job Thepost holder will be expected to participate in the out of hours on call rotafor the Northwest Yorkshire Haemophilia Network and provide out of hoursspecialist advisory thrombosis advice for the Trust whilst contributing to thecontinuing service development in the Leeds Comprehensive Care Haemophiliacentre.
There will be three outpatientclinics per week, together with MDT, ward rounds and ward attending.Theappointee will be based principally at St Jamess University Hospital withresponsibilities as a member of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Clinicaland Laboratory Haematology Consultant team providing an integrated pan-Leedsservice.
Applicants should have established skills inHaemostasis and Thrombosis and should have demonstrated a subspecialty interestin the area.
A strong commitment toundergraduate and postgraduate teaching is essential and a research interest isdesirable.

Thisappointment is for a Locum Consultant Haematologist with an interest inHaemostasis and Thrombosis.
This is a 10 PA consultant post and will be one offour consultants in the Haemostasis and Thrombosis team, joining Dr LishelHorn, Dr Julie Tarrant and Dr Angela Kanny.
The post is a temporary replacementpost to sustain the clinical Haemostasis and Thrombosis service in LeedsTeaching Hospitals, which has undergone considerable development and expansionin recent years.
The postholder will contribute to the provision of 24/7Haemophilia cover across the Northwest Yorkshire Haemophilia network andcontribute to the continuing service development in the Leeds ComprehensiveCare Haemophilia centre.
Theappointee will be based principally at St Jamess University Hospital withresponsibilities as a member of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Clinicaland Laboratory Haematology Consultant team providing an integrated pan-Leedsservice.
The duties of the post will be wholly in the Haemostasis andThrombosis subspecialty service, including a 24/7 advisory network on callservice with 5 other colleagues for heritable bleeding disorders alongside thehaematology on call consultants in Leeds, Bradford, and York.
There is no general Haematology on callcommitment.

OBJECTIVES OF THE POSTThesuccessful applicant will contribute to the care of patients with Haemophiliaand other bleeding disorders.
They will work in close collaboration with thecurrent consultants for the adult service and an established team of clinicalnurse specialists and physiotherapists caring for patients with heritablebleeding disorders.
An SpR is attached to the haemostasis team on a rotationalbasis for periods of 4 months at a time.
The postholder will also contribute toconsultant led Thrombosis clinics and provide supervision and support to twoVTE advanced clinical practitioners.
A specialty doctor is attached to the teamand provides specific medical support to the Anticoagulant and Thrombosisservice and cross covers registrar duties.Thepost holder will provide consultant level cover for Haemophilia and Thrombosisin-patients and in-patient referrals on a week on attending basis (approx.1:4), for daytime walk in attendances at the Haemophilia Centre and forurgent consultations from the hospital and primary care on cases with disordersof Haemostasis and Thrombosis.
The post holder will be a member of the Northand West Yorkshire Haemophilia MDT, (a regional MDT which is currently held 2monthly) and of the LTHT VTE MDT which is held every 3 weeks.
Thepost holder will provide clinical and when appropriate, operational advice tothe Leeds Anticoagulant Service, in conjunction with consultant colleagues,supporting a team of medical, nursing, scientific administrative and pharmacystaff (see the service description below at the end of this job description).
Clinicsprovided by the Haemostasis and Thrombosis team include a Haemophilia clinicevery Tuesday morning, and two other Haemostasis and Thrombosis clinics perweek.
The post holder will provide a Haemophilia clinic and a generalHaemostasis and Thrombosis clinic, held weekly which is a point of access fornew referrals requiring diagnostic work up for Haemostatic or Thromboticdisorders.
The third clinic will either be a further Haemostasis and Thrombosisclinic or, on rotation, will be a combined Haematology Obstetric clinic (forpatients with bleeding or thrombotic disorders) held in the Antenatal clinic inpartnership with Dr Etienne Ciantar and Dr Jonathan Nelson, ConsultantObstetricians.
The combined Haematology Obstetric service is the hub of the maternalmedicine network for North Yorkshire.
Thereare more than 3,000 outpatient attendances at the above clinics and a further250 visits to the Haemophilia Centre that require senior medical input.
Inaddition, around 150 -200 patients per year require in-patient management,either for direct complications of their Haemostatic disorder or for jointmanagement surgical procedures.Oncall is non-resident and currently consists of a 1:6 for the NorthwestYorkshire Haemophilia Network and 1 in for local Thrombosis advice cover,mostly running concurrently.
For Haemophilia, honorary contracts at therelevant trusts are in place.
This includes Leeds Teaching Hospitals, BradfordTeaching Hospitals and York Hospitals.
Person Specification Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills Essential Hold full and specialist GMC Registration with a license to practice.

All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English Experience Essential Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology.
Specifically, must demonstrate higher experience and training in Haemostasis and Thrombosis Qualifications Essential MB BS or equivalent.
MRCP or equivalent.
FRCPath or equivalent.
Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview.
Desirable Relevant higher degree.
Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills Essential Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
Desirable Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
