Locum Consultant Haematologist- Interest in Haemophilia and ThrombosisHampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation TrustThe Haemophilia and Thrombosis Consultants work as a team to provide adult and paediatric care for patients with inherited bleeding disorders across the Southern Haemophilia Network.
This is done in specific clinics both at BNHH and across the network.
The SHN team has a network director, deputy director, lead nurse, lead physiotherapist and operational manager and provides comprehensive care close to the patient's home where possible.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a full time locum consultant with an interest in Haemophilia and Thrombosis.
They would join our enthusiastic team to develop integrated Haematology services for the acute hospitals, community hospitals and primary care in Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The role would provide specialist care of patients with inherited bleeding disorders across the Southern Haemophilia Network as well as general non-malignant haematology laboratory and clinical care at HHFT.
The post will be primarily based on the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital site but outreach clinics and travel to other hospitals within the Southern Haemophilia Network will be expected.
Job responsibilitiesProvide specialist care as part of the MDT for patients with inherited bleeding disorders.Providing advice for those with thrombosis to hospital clinicians, GP and CNS team.Providing clinical and laboratory haematology services covering inpatients, outpatients, day cases and GP referrals.Responding to clinical and laboratory enquiries.Liaising with clinicians to ensure that important laboratory findings reach them promptly.Involvement in the clinical management of patients in the hospital and community.Participate in an out-of-hours consultant on-call rota.Active participation in clinical research with recruitment of patients to clinical trials.Participate in clinical audit, Quality Improvement and other departmental and directorate clinical governance activities.Provision of educational and clinical supervision for junior medical trainees.Person SpecificationQualificationsFull GMC with License to practiceHolder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interviewMRCP and FRCPathPostgraduate qualification (MD or PhD) in haemostasis or thrombosisClinical Experience and KnowledgeClinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in HaematologyAbility to offer expert opinion on a range of clinical and laboratory haematological problemsSpecialist interest in Haemostasis and Thrombosis with at least 6 months senior experience in H&TResearch & TeachingCommitment to Quality Improvement and or clinical audit - evidence of thisEvidence of commitment to teaching and trainingGCP trained and evidence of active involvement with researchDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
